Abstract

Power equipment with various safety systems is disclosed. Table saws with safety systems and/or blade retraction are disclosed. Over-molded arbors are disclosed, including arbors with prepreg over-molding. An electrically non-conductive material may be disposed to electrically insulate the arbor. The electrically non-conductive material may be made from fiber organized into a pattern.

Claims (17)

1. A woodworking machine comprising:

a cutter;

an arbor on which the cutter is mounted;

an electrically non-conductive material over-molded on at least a portion of the arbor to electrically insulate the arbor, where the material comprises fiber organized into a pattern;

a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between a user and the cutter; and

a reaction system adapted to perform a specified action to mitigate the dangerous condition upon detection of the dangerous condition by the detection system.

2. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the detection system imparts an electrical signal on the arbor.

3. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the material comprises prepreg.

4. The woodworking machine of claim 3 where the prepreg includes resin impregnated glass fiber cloth.

5. The woodworking machine of claim 4 where the resin is epoxy.

6. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the material is a thermoset.

7. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the material is fiberglass.

8. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the material comprises a fabric wrapped a plurality of times around at least a portion of the arbor and hardened resin.

9. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where at least a portion of the arbor under the material has a non-smooth surface.

10. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where at least a portion of the arbor under the material is roughened.

11. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where at least a portion of the arbor under the material is patterned.

12. The woodworking machine of claim 1 where the woodworking machine includes a bearing to support the arbor and where the material provides a bearing seat for the bearing.
