INTERLINING MATERIAL, PROCESS OF MANUFACTURING AND USE THEREOF
A method of making a fabric composite capable to assuming a desired shape including the steps of forming an interlining fabric ( 10 ) containing elastic yarn ( 15 ) running longitudinally of the fabric, varying the density of yarn across the width of the interlining to control the longitudinal extensibility across the width, and attaching the interlining to a fabric backing material ( 12 ).

15 . A method of making a fabric composite capable of assuming a desired shape including the steps of:
forming an interlining fabric ( 10 ) containing a plurality of elastic threads running longitudinally of the interlining fabric;
varying the number of elastic threads across a width of the interlining fabric to control the longitudinal extensibility across the width; and
attaching the interlining fabric to a fabric backing material ( 12 ).
16 . A method according to claim 15 including the step of subjecting the fabric backing material ( 12 ) to compressive shrinkage.
17 . A method according to claim 15 including the step of selectively removing elastic threads to provide variation of elasticity across the width.
18 . A method according to claim 15 including the step of shaping the interlining fabric ( 10 ) by one of a subsequent tensioning, pressing and steaming operation.
19 . A method according to claim 18 including the step of simultaneously attaching the fabric composite to a garment while shaping the interlining fabric ( 10 ).
20 . A method according to claim 15 including the steps of:
shaping the interlining fabric ( 10 ) prior to attaching the interlining fabric to the fabric backing material ( 12 ); and
allowing the fabric composite to relax to a curved waistband shape.
21 . A method of making a fabric composite capable of assuming a desired shape including the steps of:

varying the number of elastic threads across a width of the interlining fabric to control the longitudinal extensibility across the width;
attaching the interlining fabric to a fabric backing material ( 12 );
shaping the interlining fabric ( 10 ) by one of a subsequent tensioning, pressing and steaming operation prior to attaching the interlining fabric to the fabric backing material; and
allowing the fabric composite to relax to a curved waistband shape.
22 . A method according to claim 21 including the step of subjecting the fabric backing material ( 12 ) to compressive shrinkage.
23 . A method according to claim 21 including the step of selectively removing elastic threads to provide variation of elasticity across the width.
24 . A method according to claim 21 including the step of simultaneousy attaching the fabric composite to a garmment while shaping the interlining fabric ( 10 ).
