Abstract

The claimed subject matter provides systems and/or methods that facilitate remotely controlling a wireless lighting module. The wireless lighting module can include a power source such as a battery, a solar cell, and the like as well as an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs). The LEDs can be controlled based upon a received input (e.g., communicated by way of a radio frequency signal, an infrared signal, . . . ). For example, the input can be obtained from a remote control, a sensor, a differing wireless lighting module, an radio frequency identification (RFID) tag, and so forth. The input can be utilized to switch one or more LEDs on or off, change the intensity or color of illumination, modulate illumination, alter the direction of illumination, etc.

Claims (39)

1. A light comprising:

a housing, the housing enclosing:

at least one light emitting diode (LED) comprising a first illumination state and a second illumination state;

an interface component configured to receive a remote control signal from a remote control and an environmental sensor signal from an environmental sensor while the at least one LED is in the first illumination state, wherein the environmental sensor signal is indicative of a detected proximity of an object, a detected sound, a detected motion, a detected gas, a detected temperature, or a detected chemical;

a controller comprising a timing component and configured to:

determine a setting for the timing component based on at least one of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, and the environmental sensor signal;

determine the second illumination state of the at least one LED based on a combination of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, the environmental sensor signal, and the setting for the timing component; and

change the illumination state of the at least one LED from the first illumination state to the second illumination state according to a timing protocol corresponding to the setting of the timing component, wherein:

the timing protocol delays the illumination state change;

the illumination state change further comprises conserving power consumed by the light from a local power source by reducing power supplied to the at least one LED; and

the local power source configured to supply power to the interface component, the controller, the environmental sensor, and the at least one LED.

2. The light of claim 1 , further comprising a power management facility configured to conserve power consumed by the light.

3. The light of claim 2 wherein the conserving power further comprises reducing power supplied to the at least one LED, the environmental sensor, the interface component, or the controller.

4. The light of claim 1 , wherein the remote control further comprises a sensor, another light, or a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.

5. The light of claim 1 , wherein the local power source includes a non-rechargeable battery, a rechargeable battery, or an at least one photovoltaic cell.

6. A light comprising:

a housing, the housing enclosing:

at least one light emitting diode (LED) comprising a first illumination state and a second illumination state;

an interface component configured to receive a remote control signal from a remote control and an environmental sensor signal from an environmental sensor while the at least one LED is in the first illumination state, wherein the environmental sensor signal is indicative of a detected proximity of an object, a detected sound, a detected motion, a detected gas, a detected temperature, or a detected chemical;

a battery configured to supply power to the interface component, a controller, the environmental sensor, and the at least LED; and

the controller comprising a timing component and configured to:

determine a setting for the timing component based on at least one of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, and the environmental sensor signal;

determine the second illumination state of the at least one LED based on a combination of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, the environmental sensor signal, and the setting for the timing component; and

change the illumination state of the at least one LED from the first illumination state to the second illumination state according to a timing protocol corresponding to the setting of the timing component, wherein:

the timing protocol delays the illumination state change;

the illumination state change further comprises conserving power consumed by the light from the battery by reducing power supplied to the at least one LED; and

wherein the controller further comprises a power management facility configured to conserve power consumed by the light from the battery by reducing power supplied to the at least one LED.

7. The light of claim 6 , wherein the remote control further comprises a sensor, another light, or a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.

8. A method comprising:

receiving, at an interface component of a light, a remote control signal from a remote control and an environmental sensor signal from an environmental sensor while an at least one LED of the light is a the first illumination state, wherein the environmental sensor signal is indicative of a detected proximity of an object, a detected sound, a detected motion, a detected gas, a detected temperature, or a detected chemical;

determining, via a controller of the light, a setting for a timing component for the light based on at least one of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, and the environmental sensor signal;

determining, via the controller, a second illumination state of the at least one LED based on a combination of the first illumination state, the remote control signal, the environmental sensor signal, and the setting for the timing component; and

changing, via the controller, the illumination state of the at least one LED from the first illumination state to the second illumination state according to a timing protocol corresponding to the setting of the timing component, wherein:

the timing protocol delays the illumination state change;

the illumination state change further comprises conserving power consumed by the light from a battery by reducing power supplied to the at least one LED; and

the battery configured to supply power to the interface component, the controller, the environmental sensor, and the at least one LED.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising conserving power by decreasing power provided to the at least one LED.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the remote control comprises at least one of a sensor, another light, or a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the controller includes a microprocessor, a microcontroller, a digital logic circuit, or an analog circuitry.
