N-Substituted (heteroaryl)cycloalkyl sulfoximines are effective at controlling insects.
1. A compound of either formulas (I) or (II)
wherein
Z represents either O, NR 4 or —(CH 2 )—;
X represents NO 2 , CN, COOR 2 , COR 3 ,
R 1 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 3 -C 6 alkenyl, C 3 -C 6 haloalkenyl or C 3 -C 6 alkynyl;
R 2 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl;
R 3 represents hydrogen, C 1 -C 4 alkyl C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl;
R 4 represents hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl;
n is an integer from 0-3;
m is an integer from 0-1; and
Y represents halo, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 haloalkoxy, CN, NO 2 .
2. A compound of formula (I) or (II) wherein X is NO 2 or CN.
3. A compound of formula (I) or (II) wherein R 1 is C 1 -C 4 alkyl.
4. A compound of formula (I) or (II) wherein Y is halo or trihalomethyl.
5. A compound of formula (I) or (II) wherein m+n≦3.
6. A compound of formula (I) or (II) wherein Z is O or —(CH 2 )—.
7. A compound of formula (I) in which Z represents —(CH 2 )—, X represents NO 2 or CN, R 1 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl, m+n≦3 and Y represents halo or trihalomethyl.
8. A compound of formula (II) in which Z represents —(CH 2 )—, X represents NO 2 or CN, R 1 represents C 1 -C 4 alkyl, m+n≦3 and Y represents halo or trihalomethyl.
9. A composition for controlling insects which comprises a compound of any one of claims 1 - 8 in combination with a phytologically-acceptable carrier.
10. A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound of any one of claims 1 - 8 .
