Abstract

An apparatus and system for conveying drill cuttings employing a conveyance gas to induce movement of the non-free flowing drill cuttings in a vessel.

Claims (12)

1. A system to convey non-free flowing drill cuttings comprising:

an oil well drilling rig, said oil well drilling rig having a storage vessel, for holding non-free flowing drill cuttings;

a first conduit having a first end and a second end, said first end connected to said storage vessel; and

a boat having a first pressure vessel, said first pressure vessel connected to said second end of said first conduit, said first pressure vessel configured to receive said non-free flowing drill cuttings from said storage vessel via said first conduit, said first pressure vessel configured to allow a compressed conveyance gas to be introduced therein, to force at least a portion of said non-free flowing oil well drill cuttings in said first pressure vessel to move out to a container, without employing a non-pneumatic means for forcing said at least a portion of said non-free flowing oil well drill cuttings out from said first pressure vessel.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein said first conduit includes a flexible hose.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein said storage vessel is an ISO container sized vessel.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein said storage vessel is a pressure vessel adapted to allow a conveyance gas to be introduced therein, wherein the pressure of said conveyance gas forces at least a portion of said non-free flowing oil well drill cuttings out from said storage vessel to said first conduit.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein said storage vessel has a conical portion defining a cone angle selected to enable mass flow of said non-free flowing drill cuttings in said storage vessel.

6. The system of claim 1 further including a second pressure vessel and a second conduit, wherein said second pressure is located on said oil well drilling rig, said second conduit connecting said second pressure vessel to said storage vessel.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein said second pressure vessel is a pressure vessel adapted to allow a conveyance gas to be introduced therein, wherein the pressure of said conveyance gas forces at least a portion of said non-free flowing oil well drill cuttings out from said second pressure vessel to said second conduit.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first pressure vessel has a conical portion defining a cone angle selected to enable mass flow of said non-free flowing oil well drill cuttings in said first pressure vessel.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein said first pressure vessel is adapted to withstand pressures of between 4 and 8 bars.
