Abstract

The present invention is a receiving circuit used for a cellular phone that is reduced in size and can realize low power consumption. In a signal reception circuit that is used in a cellular phone that perform transmission and reception of a plurality of band wireless signals and includes a low-pass filter for removing blockers unnecessary for signal reception, the low-pass filter 104 is composed of a plurality of filters composed of a plurality of different circuit configurations and having a plurality of different pole positions, switching between a filter for blocker removal and a filter configuration with reduced sensitivity degradation is performed by combining a plurality of filters for each signal reception band, and by performing power-off of an unnecessary filter portion in the filter configuration, power consumption is reduced. By constituting a plurality of different filters using filters mutually complementing their characteristics, a redundant filter configuration can be avoided, so that the area thereof can be suppressed to necessity minimum, and cost can be reduced.

Claims (33)

1. A receiving circuit used in a cellular phone performing transmission and reception of a plurality of band signals, comprising:

a low-pass filter for removing blockers unnecessary for reception, wherein the low-pass filter is comprised of a plurality of filters including a plurality of different circuit configurations and having different pole positions, and blockers are removed using combination of the plurality of filters for respective reception bands; and further comprising a function of performing power-on of a selected filter and power-off of other filters,

wherein the receiving circuit is for receiving at least two bands of bands I to VI of UMTS, and further comprises:

first and second filters having pole positions different from each other,

wherein the first filter is selected during receptions of band I and band VI, while the first filter and second filter are selected during receptions of bands II to V, so that blockers are suppressed.

2. A receiving circuit used in a cellular phone performing transmission and reception of a plurality of band signals, comprising:

a low-pass filter for removing blockers unnecessary for reception, wherein the low-pass filter is comprised of a plurality of filters including a plurality of different circuit configurations and having different pole positions and blockers are removed using combination of the plurality of filters for respective reception bands,

wherein the receiving circuit which is for receiving at least two bands of bands I to VI of UMTS, and further comprises:

first and second filters having pole positions different from each other,

wherein the first filter is selected during receptions of band I and band VI, while the first filter and second filter are selected during receptions of bands II to V, so that blocker is suppressed.

3. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 ,

wherein the first filter receiving bands I and VI includes an emitter follower, and the second filter selected together with the first filter at reception of bands II to V includes an operational amplifier composed of a MOSFET.

4. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 ,

wherein at least one filter has a characteristic having a notch, and setting is performed such that a blocker frequency is included in a notch bandwidth of the filter having the notch.

5. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 , comprising:

a blocker detector that detects a blocker,

wherein a configuration of the filter is switched according to determination about presence/absence of a blocker made from a signal of the blocker detector.

6. A receiving circuit used in a cellular phone performing transmission and reception of a plurality of band signals, comprising:

a low-pass filter for removing blockers unnecessary for reception, wherein the low-pass filter is comprised of a plurality of filters including a plurality of different circuit configurations and having different pole positions, and blockers are removed using combination of the plurality of filters for respective reception bands,

wherein at least one filter has a characteristic having a notch, and setting is performed such that a blocker frequency is included in a notch bandwidth of the filter having the notch, and

wherein the filter having the notch is positioned after an initial stage filter of selected plurality of filters and before a final stage filter of the selected plurality of filters.

7. A receiving circuit used in a cellular phone performing transmission and reception of a plurality of band signals, comprising:

a low-pass filter for removing blockers unnecessary for reception, wherein the low-pass filter is comprised of a plurality of filters including a plurality of different circuit configurations and having different pole positions, and blockers are removed using combination of the plurality of filters for respective reception bands,

wherein the receiving circuit is for receiving at least two bands of bands I to VI of UMTS, and

wherein the receiving circuit comprises first, second, . . . , and n-th filters which allow passages of wanted signal reception frequency bandwidths at signal reception of respective bands, and the first filter is selected at a signal reception of band I, the second filter is selected at a signal reception of band II, . . . , and the n-th filter is selected at a signal reception of band n.

8. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 , comprising:

a blocker detector that detects a blocker,

wherein a configuration of the filter is switched according to determination about presence/absence of a blocker made from a signal of the blocker detector.

9. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 , comprising:

a filter control circuit that controls the low-pass filter according to a band selection signal.

10. The receiving circuit according to claim 2 , comprising:

a function of being capable of adjusting a cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter,

wherein the cutoff frequency is set for each signal reception band.
