Abstract

Situational location dependent information is transmitted from a server data processing system to a receiving data processing system. The server data processing system communicates with the receiving data processing system in a manner by pushing content when appropriate. A candidate delivery event associated with a current positional attribute of the receiving data processing system is recognized and a situational location of the remote data processing system is determined. The candidate delivery event may be a location and/or direction change, device state change, or movement exceeding a movement tolerance. The situational location of the remote data processing system may be its location, direction, location and direction, proximity to a location, state change, or location and/or direction relative to a previous location and/or direction, or combinations thereof. A set of delivery content from a deliverable content database is transmitted from the server data processing system to the receiving data processing system according to the situational location of the receiving data processing system, and according to delivery constraints. The delivery content is configurable by authorized administrators on an instant activation basis for proactive delivery.

Claims (30)

1 . A method for presenting situational location relevant information to a user of a shopping cart machine, said method comprising the steps of:

determining, with interoperating locate means mounted to said shopping cart machine, a radio wave signal triangulated situational location of said shopping cart machine;

finding information relevant to said situational location of said shopping cart machine; and

presenting said information to a user interface mounted to said shopping cart machine.

2 . The method of claim 1 further including the step of transmitting said information from a server to a data processing system mounted to said shopping cart machine.

3 . The method of claim 2 wherein said information is a plurality of presentation content items maintained to a local cache of said data processing system for later presentation.

4 . The method of claim 1 further including the step of maintaining a history of said information presented to said user interface.

5 . The method of claim 4 further including the step of using said history to prevent redundantly presenting said information to said user interface.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein said information is maintainable with an internet connection by a plurality of users.

7 . The method of claim 1 further including the step of finding information relevant to interests of said user of said shopping cart machine.

8 . A shopping cart system for informing a retail store customer, said system comprising:

a shopping cart machine equipped with a user interface wherein said shopping cart machine is moved by said customer and said user interface informs said customer;

means for contributing to automatic determination of a radio wave signal triangulated situational location of said shopping cart machine;

means for finding information relevant to said situational location of said shopping cart machine; and

means for presenting information to said user interface according to said situational location.

9 . The shopping cart system of claim 8 further including means for receiving said information from a server to a data processing system mounted to said shopping cart machine.

10 . The shopping cart system of claim 9 wherein said information is a plurality of presentation content items maintained to a local cache of said data processing system for later presentation.

11 . The shopping cart system of claim 8 further including means for maintaining a history of said information presented to said user interface.

12 . The shopping cart system of claim 11 further including means for using said history to prevent redundantly presenting said information to said user interface.

13 . The shopping cart system of claim 8 wherein said information is maintainable with an internet connection by a plurality of users.

14 . The shopping cart system of claim 8 further including means for finding information relevant to interests of said customer.

15 . A method for informing a retail store customer, said method comprising the steps of:

determining a radio wave signal triangulated situational location of a shopping cart machine operated by said customer;

finding information relevant to said situational location of said shopping cart machine; and

presenting said information to a user interface of said shopping cart machine.

16 . The method of claim 15 further including the step of transmitting said information from a server to a data processing system mounted to said shopping cart machine.

17 . The method of claim 15 further including the step of maintaining a history of said information presented to said user interface.

18 . The method of claim 17 further including the step of using said history to prevent redundantly presenting said information to said user interface.

19 . The method of claim 15 wherein said information is maintainable with an internet connection by a plurality of users.

20 . The method of claim 15 further including the step of finding information relevant to interests of said customer.
