Abstract

Situational location dependent information is transmitted from a server data processing system to a receiving data processing system. The server data processing system communicates with the receiving data processing system in a manner by pushing content when appropriate. A candidate delivery event associated with a current positional attribute of the receiving data processing system is recognized and a situational location of the remote data processing system is determined. The candidate delivery event may be a location and/or direction change, device state change, or movement exceeding a movement tolerance. The situational location of the remote data processing system may be its location, direction, location and direction, proximity to a location, state change, or location and/or direction relative to a previous location and/or direction, or combinations thereof. A set of delivery content from a deliverable content database is transmitted from the server data processing system to the receiving data processing system according to the situational location of the receiving data processing system, and according to delivery constraints. The delivery content is configurable by authorized administrators on an instant activation basis for proactive delivery.

Claims (26)

1 . A method for configuring, with a user interface, information for presentation to a mobile data processing system user, said method comprising the steps of:

administering a situational location that may be encountered in future travel by said mobile data processing system user;

administering deliverable content associated with said situational location, wherein said content will be automatically presented to a mobile data processing system of said mobile data processing system user upon travel to said situational location; and

saving said situational location and said content to a deliverable content database for future administering, said deliverable content database supporting a plurality of content configurable by a plurality of administering users.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using global positioning system data.

3 . The method of claim 1 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a radio wave triangulated position.

4 . The method of claim 1 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a network address.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a telephone number.

6 . The method of claim 1 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a proximity to a location.

7 . The method of claim 1 wherein said content is advertising information.

8 . The method of claim 1 wherein said user interface is accessed by way of an internet connection.

9 . The method of claim 1 further including the step of administering an invocable speed reference as part of said content.

10 . The method of claim 1 further including the step of administering system delivery constraints associated with said content.

11 . A database configuration system for configuring, with a user interface, information for presentation to a mobile data processing system user, said system comprising:

means for administering a situational location that may be encountered in future travel by said mobile data processing system user;

means for administering deliverable content associated with said situational location, wherein said content will be automatically presented to a mobile data processing system of said mobile data processing user system upon travel to said situational location; and

means for saving said situational location and said content to a deliverable content database for future administering, said deliverable content database supporting a plurality of content configurable by a plurality of administering users.

12 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using global positioning system data.

13 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a radio wave triangulated position.

14 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a network address.

15 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a telephone number.

16 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said situational location is to be matched to an automatically located position of said mobile data processing system user wherein said position is automatically located using a proximity to a location.

17 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said content is advertising information.

18 . The database configuration system of claim 11 wherein said user interface is accessed by way of an internet connection.

19 . The database configuration system of claim 11 further including means for administering an invocable speed reference as part of said content.

20 . The database configuration system of claim 11 further including means for administering system delivery constraints associated with said content.
