Abstract

A communication system 100 is used to manage content includes a user device with a storage device 306 and a content processing system 102 in communication with the storage device and communicating content to the storage device, generating a conditional access packet, communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device. The user device 112 receives the content and the conditional access packet and controls the storage device to manage the content in response to the conditional access packet.

Claims (39)

1. A method comprising:

communicating content to a storage device from a content processing system;

generating a control command comprising a content action code;

generating a conditional access packet comprising the control command;

communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

receiving the content and the conditional access packet;

immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

wherein controlling the storage device comprises ending receiving the content.

2. A method comprising:

communicating content to a storage device from a content processing system;

generating a control command comprising a content action code;

generating a conditional access packet comprising the control command;

communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

receiving the content and the conditional access packet;

immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

wherein controlling the storage device comprises ending receiving the content and deleting content from the storage device.

3. A method comprising:

communicating content to a storage device from a content processing system;

generating a control command comprising a content action code;

generating a conditional access packet comprising the control command;

communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

receiving the content and the conditional access packet;

immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

determining an error in transmission and generating the conditional access packet in response to determining the error.

4. A communication system comprising:

a user device comprising a storage device;

a content processing system in communication with the storage device and communicating content to the storage device, generating a conditional access packet comprising a control command with a content action code, communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

said user device receiving the content and the conditional access packet and immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

wherein the user device controls the storage device by ending receiving the content.

5. A communication system comprising:

a user device comprising a storage device;

a content processing system in communication with the storage device and communicating content to the storage device, generating a conditional access packet comprising a control command with a content action code, communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

said user device receiving the content and the conditional access packet and immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

wherein the user device controls the storage device by ending receiving the content and deleting content from the storage device.

6. A communication system comprising:

a user device comprising a storage device;

a content processing system in communication with the storage device and communicating content to the storage device, generating a conditional access packet comprising a control command with a content action code, communicating the conditional access packet to a storage device;

said user device receiving the content and the conditional access packet and immediately controlling the storage device to manage the content in response to the content action code of the control command of the conditional access packet; and

wherein the content processing system generates the conditional access packet in response to an error in transmission.
