Abstract

A network for electronic communications in which disparate anonymous devices may transmit and receive information, such as in a secure manner. A method for collecting health-related data may, for example, comprise detecting, at a first time, that a sensor has moved within a detection range of a link component, the sensor having not been identified to the link component prior to the first time; receiving data collected by the sensor relating to activity by and/or health of a human subject associated with the sensor; and processing the data to determine at least one indicator of the human subject's health.

Claims (22)

1 . A method for collecting health-related data, comprising acts of:

(A) with a link component, detecting, at a first time, that a sensor has moved within a detection range of the link component, the sensor having not been identified to the link component prior to the first time;

(B) with the link component, receiving data collected by the sensor relating to activity by and/or health of a human subject associated with the sensor; and

(C) processing the data to determine at least one indicator of the human subject's health.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the sensor has an identifier which is assigned before the act (A), the act (B) further comprises receiving the identifier, and the act (C) further comprises comparing the identifier to a registry of identifiers to determine the sensor from which the data was received.

3 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising an act of:

(D) making the at least one indicator accessible to the human subject via at least one communications network.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the at least one communications network includes the Internet.

5 . A method for collecting and analyzing health-related data, comprising acts of:

(A) providing a link component which receives, at a first time, data collected and transmitted by a sensor, the data relating to activity by and/or health of a human subject, the sensor having not been identified to the link component prior to the first time; and

(B) providing a processing component which processes data received by the link component to determine at least one indicator of the human subject's health.

6 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising an act of:

(C) providing the sensor.

7 . The method of claim 5 , further comprising an act of:

(D) providing a web site which may be accessed by the human subject to view the at least one indicator.

8 . A system for collecting health-related data, comprising:

a sensor, associated with a human subject, operable to collect and transmit data relating to activity by and/or health of the human subject;

a link component operable to detect, at a first time, whether the sensor has been moved within a detection range of the link component and to receive data transmitted by the sensor when the sensor is within the detection range, the sensor having not been identified to the link component prior to the first time; and

a processing component operable to process data received by the link component relating to activity by and/or health of the human subject to determine at least one indicator of the human subject's health.

9 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising a plurality of sensors, each associated with a different human subject, operable to collect and transmit data relating to activity by and/or health of a respective human subject.

10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the link component is further operable to detect whether any of the plurality of sensors has been moved within a detection range of the link component and to receive data transmitted by each sensor which has been moved within the detection range.

11 . The system of claim 8 , further comprising a web site operable to display the at least one indicator to the human subject.
