Abstract

A package for surgical suture material includes a base member and a cover member, wherein the cover member is configured to be placed adjacent to the base member to form the package for the surgical suture material. The base member includes an outer wall extending from an outer circumference thereof. The outer wall has a predetermined height such that it engages the cover member when the cover member is placed adjacent the base member. Partition structure extends from a bottom surface of the cover member and defines at least one suture retaining area. An information label is attached to an upper surface of the cover. A plurality of protrusions are positioned adjacent the outer wall for maintaining surgical suture material a predetermined distance toward a center portion of the package.

Claims (22)

1. A suture package comprising:

a base;

a cover having a lower surface and an upper surface, the base and cover configured to cooperate to define an area configured to retain a suture;

a plurality of discrete posts extending from first and second arcuate end portions of the lower surface of the cover to define an inner periphery of arcuate end portions of the area configured to retain a suture; and

a label heat sealed to at least a portion of the upper surface of the cover, the label comprising a printable layer and a heat sealable layer, the printable layer forming the upper surface of the label and the heat sealable layer forming the lower surface of the label, the heat sealable layer of the label in contact with the upper surface of the cover.

2. The suture package as in claim 1 , wherein the cover defines a depressed area further defining at least a portion of the upper surface of the cover, the label covering at least a portion of the depressed area.

3. A suture package as in claim 1 , wherein the printable layer is heat sealed to the heat sealable layer.

4. A suture package comprising:

a base having an upwardly extending peripheral wall of a predetermined height and a substantially planar upper surface;

a cover having a substantially planar edge portion terminating atop the peripheral wall and a downwardly extending inner wall of a height substantially equivalent to the height of the peripheral wall;

a plurality of discrete posts extending from first and second arcuate end portions of the lower surface of the cover to define an inner periphery of arcuate end portions of the area configured to retain a suture;

a suture retaining area defined between the peripheral wall and the inner wall; and

an information label secured to at least a portion of an upper surface of the cover, the information label including a printable layer and a heat sealable layer, the printable layer forming the upper surface of the information label and the heat sealable layer forming the lower surface of the information label, the heat sealable layer of the information label in contact with the upper surface of the cover.

5. A suture package as in claim 4 wherein the printable layer is heat sealed to the heat sealable layer.

6. A suture package as in claim 4 , wherein the cover defines a depressed area further defining at least a portion of the upper surface of the cover, the information label covering at least a portion of the depressed area.

7. A suture package comprising:

a base having an upwardly extending peripheral wall;

a cover having an upper surface and a lower surface and including a first end including a plurality of arcuate rows of posts extending downwardly from the lower surface; and

an information label secured to at least a portion of the upper surface of the cover,

the information label including a printable layer and a heat sealable layer, the printable layer forming the upper surface of the information label and the heat sealable layer forming the lower surface of the information label, the heat sealable layer of the information label in contact with the upper surface of the cover.

8. A suture package as in claim 7 wherein the printable layer is heat sealed to the heat sealable layer.

9. A suture package as in claim 7 , wherein the cover defines a depressed area further defining at least a portion of the upper surface of the cover, the information label covering at least a portion of the depressed area.
