Abstract

A method for providing maintenance to an asset is disclosed. In one embodiment, a database having asset information from a plurality of disparate sources is accessed. Asset information in the database is utilized to generate an asset report. The asset report is utilized to track an asset including its location and operation. Scheduling information regarding the asset is utilized such that the manufacturer can provide a scheduled/unscheduled maintenance program for the asset.

Claims (67)

1. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable instructions embodied thereon which, when executed, cause a computer system to perform a method, said method comprising:

determining, via communication with a first reporting source comprising a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, a real-time location of an asset;

determining, via communication with a second reporting source comprising an electronic sensor coupled with the asset, a real-time operation condition of the asset;

populating a database with the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing said database to generate an asset report including the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing the asset report at a manufacture level to track said asset including its location and operation;

generating a maintenance schedule for said asset based on the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset, thereby enabling a manufacturer of the asset to provide maintenance service for the asset; and

outputting a period of time during which maintenance is to be performed on said asset without hindering operation of said asset.

2. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a maintenance alert when maintenance is needed for said asset.

3. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 2 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a current location of said asset with said maintenance alert.

4. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 3 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a time for performing said maintenance on said asset with said maintenance alert, wherein said time for performing said maintenance is extrapolated from said asset report.

5. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable instructions embodied thereon which, when executed, cause a computer system to perform a method, said method comprising:

determining, via communication with a first reporting source comprising a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, a real-time location of an asset;

determining, via communication with a second reporting source comprising an electronic sensor coupled with the asset, a real-time operation condition of the asset;

populating a database with the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing said database to generate an asset report including the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing the asset report at a rental level to track said asset including its location and operation; and

generating a maintenance schedule for said asset based on the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset, thereby enabling a rental company to provide maintenance service for the asset; and

outputting a period of time during which maintenance is to be performed on said asset without hindering operation of said asset.

6. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 5 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a maintenance alert when maintenance is needed for said asset.

7. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 6 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a current location of said asset with said maintenance alert.

8. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 7 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a time for performing said maintenance on said asset with said maintenance alert, wherein said time for performing said maintenance is extrapolated from said asset report.

9. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 5 wherein the method further comprises:

tracking said operation and said location of the asset to ensure adherence to rental contract rules and reduce asset downtime.

10. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable instructions embodied thereon which, when executed, cause a computer system to perform a method, said method comprising:

determining, via communication with a first reporting source comprising a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, a real-time location of an asset;

determining, via communication with a second reporting source comprising an electronic sensor coupled with the asset, a real-time operation condition of the asset;

populating a database with the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing said database to generate an asset report including the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing the asset report at an owner level to track said asset including its location and operation;

generating a maintenance schedule for said asset based on the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset, thereby enabling an owner of the asset to provide maintenance service for the asset; and

outputting a period of time during which maintenance is to be performed on said asset without hindering operation of said asset.

11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a maintenance alert when maintenance is needed for said asset.

12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 11 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a current location of said asset with said maintenance alert.

13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 12 wherein the method further comprises:

providing a time for performing said maintenance on said asset with said maintenance alert, wherein said time for performing said maintenance is extrapolated from said asset report.

14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises:

tracking said operation and said location of the asset to ensure adherence to company policy and reduce asset downtime.

15. A method for providing maintenance to an asset, the method comprising:

determining, via communication with a first reporting source comprising a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver, a real-time location of an asset;

determining, via communication with a second reporting source comprising an electronic sensor coupled with the asset, a real-time operation condition of the asset;

populating a database with the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing the database to generate an asset report including the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset;

utilizing the asset report to track the asset including its location and operation;

generating a maintenance schedule for the asset based on the real-time location and the real-time operation condition of the asset, thereby enabling an entity associated with the asset to provide maintenance service for the asset; and

outputting a period of time during which maintenance is to be performed on the asset without hindering operation of the asset.

16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

providing a maintenance alert when maintenance is needed for said asset.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

providing a current location of said asset with said maintenance alert.

18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising:

providing a time for performing said maintenance on said asset with said maintenance alert, wherein said time for performing said maintenance is extrapolated from said asset report.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the entity is a manufacturer of the asset.

20. The method of claim 15 , wherein the entity is a rental company that rents out the asset.

21. The method of claim 20 , further comprising:

tracking the real-time operation condition and the real-time location of the asset to ensure adherence to rental contract rules and reduce asset downtime.

22. The method of claim 15 , wherein the entity is an owner of the asset.

23. The method of claim 22 , further comprising:

tracking the real-time operation condition and the real-time location of the asset to ensure adherence to company policy and reduce asset downtime.
