Abstract

A Luer-like non-standard quick disconnect medical fluid connector that cannot be engaged with a standard Luer fitting.

Claims (25)

1. A medical fluid connector system comprising:

a unitary male connector body defining:

an inner hollow male cone; and

an outer annular sleeve surrounding the male cone and radially spaced therefrom, the sleeve being internally threaded, the male cone extending axially beyond the sleeve, wherein

the unitary male connector body includes structure that prevents engaging a standard female Luer fitting with the unitary male connector body, the structure including an inner diameter of the sleeve that is greater than an inner diameter of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting;

the system also comprising a unitary female connector body comprising:

a female cone; and

at least two non-contiguous radially elongated triangular threads external to the female cone and configured for engaging the threads of the outer annular sleeve.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the structure includes an outer diameter of the male cone that is greater than an outer diameter of a male cone of a standard male Luer fitting.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the structure includes a thread pitch of the outer annular sleeve that is greater than a thread pitch of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting.

4. A medical fluid connector system comprising:

a unitary female connector body defining:

a female cone; and

at least two radially diametrically opposed radially elongated triangular threads radially beyond the female cone and configured for engaging threads of a sleeve of a male connector body.

5. The system of claim 4 , comprising:

a unitary male connector body defining:

an inner hollow male cone; and

an outer annular sleeve surrounding the male cone and radially spaced therefrom, the sleeve being internally threaded for receiving the radially elongated thread of the female body, the male cone extending axially beyond the sleeve, wherein

the male body includes structure that prevents engaging a standard female Luer fitting with the body.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the structure includes an outer diameter of the male cone that is greater than an outer diameter of a male cone of a standard male Luer fitting.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the structure further includes:

an inner diameter of the sleeve that is greater than an inner diameter of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting; and

a thread pitch of the sleeve that is greater than a thread pitch of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting.

8. The system of claim 5 , wherein the structure includes an inner diameter of the sleeve that is greater than an inner diameter of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting.

9. The system of claim 5 , wherein the structure includes a thread pitch of the sleeve that is greater than a thread pitch of a sleeve of a standard male Luer fitting.
