Abstract

A request to access a content management related service is obtained, where the request is associated with an object tree. The object tree is walked to obtain information associated with the object tree. A set of one or more service context rules associated with the content management related service is determined. The object tree is processed using the set of service context rules so that the content management related service is able to properly operate using the processed information.

Claims (74)

1. A method for processing information, comprising:

obtaining a request to access a content management related service, wherein the request is associated with an object tree;

using a processor to walk the object tree to obtain information associated with the object tree;

using the processor to determine a set of one or more service context rules associated with the content management related service; and

processing the object tree using the set of service context rules so that the content management related service is able to properly operate using the processed information, wherein:

processing includes replacing a first data associated with the object tree with a second data required to perform the content management related service; and

the first data comprises a path or other logical storage location on a sending node and the second data comprises a second path or other logical storage location on or otherwise accessible to a receiving node at which the content management related service is to be performed.

2. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the request is received.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the request is received from an upstream node.

4. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the method is performed by a content management services runtime environment.

5. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the content management related service comprises one of a plurality of content management related services, distributed over a plurality of nodes, which are to be performed with respect to the object tree.

6. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the content management related service is developed by a third party developer and/or a content management customer.

7. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein processing includes transforming from a first format to a second format.

8. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein processing includes:

obtaining additional information not included in the object tree; and

supplementing the information associated with the object tree with the additional information.

9. A method as recited in claim 8 , wherein the additional information includes metadata.

10. A method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising providing an interface to receive a definition of the set of service context rules.

11. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein:

walking includes extracting the structure of the object tree and/or extracting information which is stored in the object tree; and

determining includes:

accessing a stored collection of service context rules;

comparing the accessed service context rules with the extracted structure and/or the extracted information generated by walking the objected tree; and

determining, based at least in part on the comparison, which service context rules in the accessed collection are applicable, wherein the determined set of service context rules includes those service context rules that are applicable.

12. A method as recited in claim 1 , wherein:

the request is a first request and the first request is received via a first interface; and

the method further includes:

receiving via a second interface a second request to access the content management related service performed at a downstream node, wherein the second request is associated with the object tree; and

in response to receiving the second request via the second interface, refraining from performing the steps of walking, determining, and processing.

13. A system for processing information, comprising:

an interface configured to obtain a request to access a content management related service, wherein the request is associated with an object tree; and

a processor configured to:

walk the object tree to obtain information associated with the object tree;

determine a set of one or more service context rules associated with the content management related service; and

process the object tree using the set of service context rules so that the content management related service is able to properly operate using the processed information, wherein:

the processor is configured to process by replacing a first data associated with the object tree with a second data required to perform the content management related service; and

the first data comprises a path or other logical storage location on a sending node and the second data comprises a second path or other logical storage location on or otherwise accessible to a receiving node at which the content management related service is to be performed.

14. A system as recited in claim 13 , wherein the system includes a content management services runtime environment.

15. A system as recited in claim 14 , wherein the processor is configured to process the object tree by:

obtaining additional information not included in the object tree; and

supplementing the information associated with the object tree with the additional information.

16. A system as recited in claim 13 , wherein:

the processor is configured to walk by extracting the structure of the object tree and/or extracting information which is stored in the object tree; and

the processor is configured to determine by:

accessing a stored collection of service context rules;

comparing the accessed service context rules with the extracted structure and/or the extracted information generated by walking the objected tree; and

determining, based at least in part on the comparison, which service context rules in the accessed collection are applicable, wherein the determined set of service context rules includes those service context rules that are applicable.

17. A system as recited in claim 13 , wherein:

the request is a first request and the first request is received via a first interface; and

the processor is further configured to:

receive via a second interface a second request to access the content management related service performed at a downstream node, wherein the second request is associated with the object tree; and

in response to receiving the second request via the second interface, refrain from performing the steps of walking, determining, and processing.

18. A computer program product for processing information, the computer program product being embodied in a non-transitory computer readable storage medium and comprising computer instructions for:

obtaining a request to access a content management related service, wherein the request is associated with an object tree;

walking the object tree to obtain information associated with the object tree;

determining a set of one or more service context rules associated with the content management related service; and

processing the object tree using the set of service context rules so that the content management related service is able to properly operate using the processed information, wherein:

the computer instructions for processing include computer instructions for replacing a first data associated with the object tree with a second data required to perform the content management related service; and

the first data comprises a path or other logical storage location on a sending node and the second data comprises a second path or other logical storage location on or otherwise accessible to a receiving node at which the content management related service is to be performed.

19. A computer program product as recited in claim 18 , wherein the computer program product is associated with a content management services runtime environment.

20. A computer program product as recited in claim 18 , wherein the computer instructions for processing include computer instructions for:

obtaining additional information not included in the object tree; and

supplementing the information associated with the object tree with the additional information.

21. A computer program product as recited in claim 18 , wherein:

the computer instructions for walking include computer instructions for extracting the structure of the object tree and/or extracting information which is stored in the object tree; and

the computer instructions for determining include computer instructions for:

accessing a stored collection of service context rules;

comparing the accessed service context rules with the extracted structure and/or the extracted information generated by walking the objected tree; and

determining, based at least in part on the comparison, which service context rules in the accessed collection are applicable, wherein the determined set of service context rules includes those service context rules that are applicable.

22. A computer program product as recited in claim 18 , wherein:

the request is a first request and the first request is received via a first interface; and

the computer program product further includes computer instructions for:

receiving via a second interface a second request to access the content management related service performed at a downstream node, wherein the second request is associated with the object tree; and

in response to receiving the second request via the second interface, refraining from performing the steps of walking, determining, and processing.
