Abstract

A system, method, computer program product, and carrier are described for indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

Claims (79)

1 . An apparatus comprising:

one or more physical media configured to bear a device-detectable implementation of a method including at least

indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and

accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

41 . A first method comprising:

performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method that includes at least:

indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and

accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

42 . The first method of claim 41 further comprising:

receiving a user authorization for the performing the reception of or the transmission of the one or more instructions in relation to the second method.

43 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises: receiving the one or more instructions; and

replacing a portion of a representation of the second method in response to the one or more instructions.

44 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises:

receiving the one or more instructions; and

patching a representation of the second method in response to the one or more instructions.

45 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises:

receiving the one or more instructions; and

forming a representation of the second method in response to the one or more instructions.

46 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises:

transmitting at least one indicator representative of the second method.

47 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises:

transmitting at least one instruction representative of a patch generated in response to a representation of the second method.

48 . The first method of claim 41 wherein the performing a reception of or a transmission of one or more instructions in relation to a second method comprises:

transmitting at least one instruction representative of an upgrade generated in response to a representation of -the second method.

49 . A method comprising:

indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and

accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

50 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

indicating a progress level relating to the virtually-instantiable service to the user interface.

51 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

transmitting a command relating to the virtually-instantiable service to the operating system.

52 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

executing a native portion of a module that includes the virtually-instantiable service.

53 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

initiating the data flow between the user interface and the operating system at least partly in response to the first instance.

54 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

terminating the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

55 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

obtaining an undo command relating to the virtually-instantiable service.

56 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

receiving an authorization relating to the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service.

57 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

receiving a scalar value of at least a potential allocation relating to the other instance of the virtually-instantiable service.

58 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

transmitting at least some data acquired from the operating system to the user interface.

59 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

establishing the first instance of the virtually-instantiable service in an emulation environment.

60 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

manifesting the data flow between the user interface and the operating system in response to a user action.

adding a data path between the user interface and the operating system to the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

64 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

recognizing one or more user-preference-indicative patterns from the user interface in the data flow.

65 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

creating a process using the first instance of the virtually-instantiable service.

66 . The method of claim 49 in which indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance comprises:

causing the user interface to present one or more representations of the virtually-instantiable service.

67 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

creating the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service before creating the first instance of the virtually-instantiable service.

68 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

updating the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface.

69 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

receiving a reference to the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow.

70 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

causing the user interface to transmit one or more indications of the second instance of the virtually-instantiable service.

71 . The method of claim 49 in which accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system comprises:

causing an emulation of a portion of the second instance selected at least partly in response to the user interface.

72 . A system comprising:

circuitry for indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and

circuitry for accessing a second instance of the virtually-instantiable service at least partly in response to the user interface after indicating the virtually-instantiable service via the data flow between the user interface and the operating system.

means for indicating a virtually-instantiable service via a data flow between a user interface and an operating system, the virtually-instantiable service including at least a first instance; and
