Abstract

A multiparameter light is disclosed, which incorporates an LED (light emitting diode) tracking ring surrounding a main output lens. The LED tracking ring is capable of additive color mixing and in turn can simulate the color of the main projected light projecting from the main output aperture or output lens of the multiparameter light.

Claims (40)

1 . A theatre lighting apparatus comprising:

a base;

a communications port;

a processor;

a memory;

a lamp housing which has a plurality of output apertures, including a first output aperture;

the lamp housing comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes, including a first light emitting diode;

wherein the lamp housing is remotely positioned in relation to the base by a motor;

and wherein the first light emitting diode is comprised of a red light emitting diode die, a green light emitting diode die, and a blue light emitting diode die which are incorporated into the first output aperture.

2 . The theatre lighting apparatus of claim 1

wherein the red light emitting diode die, the green light emitting diode die, and the blue light emitting diode die are manufactured as part of a single light emitting diode.

3 . The theatre lighting apparatus of claim 1

wherein the first output aperture provides a substantially homogenous color blend.

4 . A theatre lighting system comprising:

a central controller;

a plurality of multiparameter lights each comprising:

a base;

a communications port;

a processor;

a memory;

a lamp housing;

each of the lamp housings of each of the plurality of multiparameter lights comprising:

a plurality of output apertures; and

a plurality of light emitting diodes;

wherein each of the lamp housings of each of the plurality of multiparameter lights is remotely positioned in relation to its respective base by a motor;

wherein each of the plurality of light emitting diodes of each of the lamp housings of each of the plurality of multiparameter lights is comprised of a light emitting diode that is comprised of a red light emitting diode die, a green light emitting diode die, and a blue light emitting diode die that are incorporated into a die output aperture of the plurality of output apertures;

wherein each communications port of each of the plurality of multiparameter lights can receive a first color varying command sent by the central controller to vary the color of the respective die output aperture;

and wherein each die output aperture produces a substantially homogenous color blend.

5 . A method comprising

incorporating a red light emitting diode die, a green light emitting diode die, and a blue light emitting diode die into a first output aperture of a plurality of output apertures; and

wherein the plurality of output apertures are part of a lamp housing which is part of a theatre lighting apparatus and the lamp housing can be remotely positioned in relation to the base housing by a motor.

6 . The method of claim 5 further comprising

manufacturing the red light emitting diode die, the green light emitting diode die, and the blue light emitting diode die as part of a single light emitting diode.

7 . The method of claim 5 further comprising

providing a substantially homogenous color blend from the first output aperture.

8 . A method comprising

incorporating a red light emitting diode die, a green light emitting diode die, and a blue light emitting diode die into each of a plurality of die output apertures;

producing a substantially homogenous color blend from each of the plurality of die output apertures; and

wherein each of the plurality of die output apertures are a part of a corresponding lamp housing of a corresponding one of a plurality of multiparameter lights;

and further comprising receiving a first color varying command sent by a central controller and varying a color produced from one of the plurality of die output apertures.
