Telephone/Transaction Entry Device and System for Entering Transaction Data into Databases
Transaction data is entered by the user in response to prompts in a template. The template and entered data are accumulated into data transactions which are exploded and sent to an external database servers for processing and storage. Each database server may explode the data transaction to produce ancillary records which are then stored, and/or forwards the data transaction or some or all of the ancillary records to other database servers for updating other databases associated with those database servers. The database server(s) may also return data streams for use in completing the fields in the data transaction.
1 . A method, comprising:
capturing transaction data entered by a user, said transaction data including at least one request for information;
converting the request for information into multiple different requests, based on said transaction data and also based on stored information; and
converting at least two of the multiple requests into a specific request for specific information from specific remote servers including at least a first remote server and a second remote server, where a first application request to said first remote server is specific to a first application associated with said transaction data, and a second application request to said second remote server is specific to a second application associated with said transaction data.
2 . A method as in claim 1 , wherein each of the specific requests is specific to a specified server.
3 . A method as in claim 1 , further comprising sending information from at least one of said servers to use as part of said data transaction.
4 . A method as in claim 3 , wherein said stored information includes data templates, wherein said data transactions are defined using said templates and said sending information from at least one of said servers fills in portions of the templates.
5 . A method as in claim 1 , wherein said capturing is carried out in a portable telephone which has voice functionality.
6 . A method as in claim 4 , further comprising storing a plurality of said templates in a memory.
7 . A method as in claim 6 , wherein a first of said templates is for use in carrying out a first data transaction on a first application, and a second of said templates is used for carrying out a second data transaction on a second application.
8 . A method as in claim, wherein said converting uses said templates.
9 . A method as in claim 8 , wherein said converting uses an additional parameter stream in addition to said template.
10 . A method as in claim 5 , wherein said capturing captures data from a menu of a transaction entry device on the telephone.
11 . A method as in claim 10 , further comprising displaying a data request on a display of the telephone.
12 . A method, comprising capturing information about a data transaction, said information entered on a device;
based on said information, forming a plurality of different and separate data requests and a plurality of different and separate transactions, each having data request having a different destination, and where each destination is specific to a different application, and each application is defined based on the information from said data transaction; and
sending said data requests over a channel to said respective different destinations.
13 . A method as in claim 12 , wherein each of the separate data requests is specific to a specified server.
14 . A method as in claim 12 , wherein said capturing uses data templates, wherein said data transactions are defined using said templates and further comprising using information from at least one of said servers to fill in portions of the templates.
15 . A method as in claim 14 , wherein a first of said templates is for use in carrying out a first data transaction on a first application, and a second of said templates is used for carrying out a second data transaction on a second application.
16 . A method as in claim 12 , wherein said capturing information comprises using a keyboard on a portable telephone.
17 . A method as in claim 16 , wherein said capturing uses scroll keys on the telephone to scroll between different options on a menu.
18 . A method as in claim 12 , wherein said capturing information allows data transaction information to be entered using voice commands on the telephone.
19 . An apparatus comprising:
a user interface, capturing transaction data entered by a user, said transaction data including at least one request for information;
an electronic part, converting the request for information into multiple different requests, based on said transaction data and also based on stored information, and converting at least two of the multiple requests into a specific request for specific information from specific remote servers including at least a first remote server and a second remote server, where a first application request to said first remote server is specific to a first application associated with said transaction data, and a second application request to said second remote server is specific to a second application associated with said transaction data; and
a communication part, communicating said requests to said servers.
20 . An apparatus as in claim 19 , wherein said stored information includes data templates, wherein said data transactions are defined using said templates and said electronic part sends information from at least one of said servers to fill in portions of the templates.
21 . An apparatus as in claim 19 , wherein said user interface is in a portable telephone which has voice functionality.
22 . An apparatus as in claim 19 , wherein said portable telephone has a display that displays information associated with said data request.
