Inkjet printhead with overlapping segments and temperature sensors
View Patent ↗An inkjet printhead has a pair of adjacent printhead segments having overlapping ink ejection nozzles, with degrees of overlap of said printhead segments corresponding with predetermined temperatures. A pair of temperature sensors is on respective printhead segments so as to provide for a measure of temperature characteristics of the printhead segments for determining a degree of overlap of the printhead segments.
1. An inkjet printhead comprising:
a pair of adjacent printhead segments having overlapping ink ejection nozzles, with degrees of overlap of said printhead segments corresponding with predetermined temperatures;
a pair of temperature sensors on respective printhead segments so as to provide for a measure of temperature characteristics of the printhead segments for determining a degree of overlap of the printhead segments;
means for providing a half toning of a continuous tone image, comprising a dither matrix outputting a dither value to a summation means, the summation means having an overlap input signal which varies in either a positive or a negative sense depending on the degree of overlap between the adjacent printhead segments; and
means for adjusting said half toning in a region of overlap between the adjacent printhead segments to reduce artifacts between the adjacent printhead segments.
2. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 1 , wherein printing in a print zone corresponding to the region of overlap between the printhead segments is performed by a blend of nozzles of both printhead segments using interpolation.
3. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 2 , wherein the interpolation is linear.
4. An inkjet printhead as claimed in claim 1 , in which an output value of the summation means is compared to input continuous tone data via a comparator so as to output half tone data.
