Print cartridge assembly with ink storage reservoirs and print media
View Patent ↗A print cartridge assembly includes a print cartridge. The print cartridge includes a core defining a plurality of ink storage reservoirs and a length of print media wound upon the core. The print cartridge further includes a roller assembly for feeding the print media from the core. A printhead assembly includes a chassis, a pair of printhead supports extending from the chassis and an ink ejection printhead supported by the supports to print ink from the reservoirs upon the fed print media.
1. A print cartridge assembly comprising:
a print cartridge having a core defining a plurality of ink storage reservoirs and a length of print media wound upon the core, the print cartridge also having a roller assembly for feeding the print media from the core; and
a printhead assembly having a chassis, a pair of printhead supports extending from the chassis and an ink ejection printhead supported by the supports to print ink from the reservoirs upon the fed print media;
wherein the printhead assembly further includes a flexible printed circuit board (PCB) electrically connected to the printhead, the flexible PCB carrying busbars to supply power to the printhead;
wherein the printhead assembly further includes a quality assurance (QA) integrated circuit mounted to the PCB and configured to authenticate the print cartridge.
2. A print cartridge assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the chassis defines a well in which a worm gear of a print media separating means is located.
3. A print cartridge assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the roller assembly includes a triplet of rollers with one of the rollers being driven.
4. A print cartridge assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the printhead assembly includes a capping mechanism supported, in a displaceable manner, on the chassis to be displaceable towards and away from the printhead.
5. A print cartridge assembly as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the capping mechanism includes a displaceable carrier and an elongate rib arranged on the carrier to be placed into abutment with the printhead by the carrier when the printhead is inoperative.
