Abstract

In a method for producing a hydrogen generating material including at least one metal powder selected from the group consisting of an aluminum powder and an aluminum alloy powder of the present invention, a metal flake powder is formed by pulverizing aluminum or aluminum alloy mechanically in a treatment solvent containing an organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum. The hydrogen generating material of the present invention includes, e.g., at least one metal powder selected from the group consisting of an aluminum powder and an aluminum alloy powder. The metal powder is in the form of a flake and includes 60 wt % or more of aluminum in the metallic state. The carbon content of the metal powder measured by a combustion-infrared absorption method is 0.5 wt % or less.

Claims (26)

1 . A hydrogen generating material comprising:

at least one metal powder selected from the group consisting of an aluminum powder and an aluminum alloy powder,

wherein the metal powder is formed by mechanical pulverization in a treatment solvent containing an organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum, and

the metal powder is in the form of a flake.

2 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 1 , wherein the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum contains an alcohol.

3 . A hydrogen generating material comprising:

at least one metal powder selected from the group consisting of an aluminum powder and an aluminum alloy powder,

wherein the metal powder is in the form of a flake and includes 60 wt % or more of aluminum in a metallic state, and

a carbon content of the metal powder measured by a combustion-infrared absorption method is 0.5 wt % or less.

4 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , wherein the metal powder has a thickness of 5 μm or less.

5 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , wherein the metal powder has a specific surface area of 0.5 m 2 /g or more.

6 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , wherein the metal powder has an average particle size of 80 μm or less.

7 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , wherein a proportion of aluminum in the hydrogen generating material is 80 wt % or more.

8 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , further comprising at least one material selected from the group consisting of a hydrophilic oxide, carbon and a water absorbing polymer.

9 . The hydrogen generating material according to claim 3 , further comprising a heat generating material that generates heat by reacting with water and is other than the metal powder.

10 . A method for producing a hydrogen generating material comprising at least one metal powder selected from the group consisting of an aluminum powder and an aluminum alloy powder,

the method comprising:

forming a metal flake powder by pulverizing aluminum or aluminum alloy mechanically in a treatment solvent containing an organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum.

11 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 10 , wherein the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum contains an alcohol.

12 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 10 , wherein the treatment solvent further contains an organic solvent that is inactive to aluminum.

13 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 12 , wherein the organic solvent that is inactive to aluminum is an aromatic hydrocarbon or aliphatic hydrocarbon.

14 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 12 , wherein the organic solvent that is inactive to aluminum and the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum are mixed to form an azeotropic mixture.

15 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 14 , wherein the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum contains an alcohol, and the organic solvent that is inactive to aluminum contains toluene or cyclohexane.

16 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 10 , wherein the treatment solvent contains 1 wt % or more of the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum.

17 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 10 , wherein the organic solvent that is corrosive to aluminum is 0.1 parts by weight or more per 1 part by weight of aluminum to be pulverized.

18 . The method for producing a hydrogen generating material according to claim 10 , wherein a moisture content of the treatment solvent is 1 wt % or less.
