Abstract

The present disclosure includes a portable physiological monitor including a first local display and configured to communicate with a second physiological monitor including a second display.

Claims (20)

1. A portable physiological measurement device configured to communicate with a docking station, the portable physiological measurement device comprising:

a first local display;

a handheld housing configured to physically and electrically mate with a docking station in communication with a second local display, the housing including a releasable coupling means configured to allow the handheld housing to be released and removed from said docking station using a single hand, wherein the coupling means is configured to be released using a single finger of the single hand while removing the handheld housing;

a patient cable connection port on the handheld housing, the port connected with a cable in communication with a sensor in contact with a patient when the handheld housing is in use;

a processor included in said housing capable of operating in a portable mode, said portable mode providing portable monitoring as a standalone patient monitor of one or more physiological parameters of a patient through communication with one or more noninvasive sensors, and capable of operating in a docked mode, said docked mode providing monitoring of one or more physiological parameters of a patient; and

an output configured to communicate with the docking station.

2. The patient monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the output is configured to communicate with a management processor of the docking station.

3. The patient monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more physiological parameters comprises one or more of blood oxygen content, respiratory gas, blood pressure, ECG, and pulse rate.

4. A portable physiological measurement device configured to communicate with a docking station, the portable physiological measurement device comprising:

a first local display;

a handheld portable housing configured to physically and electrically mate with a docking station in communication with a second local display, the housing including a releasable coupling configured to allow the handheld portable housing to be released and removed from said docking station using a single hand, the releasable coupling configured to be released using a single finger of the single hand while removing the handheld housing;

a patient cable connection port on the handheld housing, the port connected with a cable in communication with a sensor in contact with a patient when the handheld housing is in use;

a processor included in said housing capable of operating in a portable mode, said portable mode providing portable monitoring as a fully functioning standalone patient monitor of one or more physiological parameters of a patient through communication with one or more noninvasive sensors, and capable of operating in a docked mode, said docked mode providing monitoring of one or more physiological parameters of a patient; and

an output configured to communicate with the docking station.

5. The patient monitoring system of claim 4 , wherein the output is configured to communicate with a management processor of the docking station.

6. The patient monitoring system of claim 4 , wherein the one or more physiological parameters comprises one or more of blood oxygen content, respiratory gas, blood pressure, ECG, and pulse rate.

7. The patient monitoring system of claim 4 , wherein the handheld portable housing is configured to be released by pressing a latch configured to secure at least one side of the handheld portable housing.

8. The patient monitoring system of claim 7 , wherein a second side of the handheld portable housing is secured to the docking station using pivots.

9. The patient monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the handheld portable housing is configured to be released by pressing a latch configured to secure at least one side of the handheld portable housing.

10. The patient monitoring system of claim 9 , wherein a second side of the handheld portable housing is secured to the docking station using pivots.
