Abstract

A device is configured for one or more of communication transfer and audio/video playback. The device includes a sensing system for measuring a physiological condition through manipulation of an output of the device and analysis of a user response.

Claims (65)

1 . An apparatus, comprising:

a device, said device configured for at least one of communication transfer or audio/video playback, said device including a sensing system for measurement of a physiological condition through manipulation of an output of said device and analysis of a user response.

20 . A communication device, comprising:

a housing;

a processing unit enclosed by said housing; and

an image capture device for capturing an image, said image capture device being coupled to said processing unit, wherein said communication device is configured for measurement of a physiological condition by analysis of said image.

21 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein said image capture device is a camera.

22 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein said processing unit is configured to recognize facial features.

25 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a microphone electrically coupled to said processing unit.

26 . The communication device as claimed in claim 25 , wherein said processing unit is configured for measuring a physiological condition based upon audio received by said microphone.

27 . The communication device as claimed in claim 26 , wherein said processing unit is configured to determine an identity of a user based upon said audio received by said microphone.

28 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a breath analyzer electrically coupled to said processing unit.

29 . The communication device as claimed in claim 28 , wherein said breath analyzer is configured to analyze breath of a user.

31 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a speaker electrically coupled to said processing unit.

32 . The communication device as claimed in claim 31 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure a hearing capability of a user.

33 . The communication device as claimed in claim 32 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure said hearing capability is operably coupled with circuitry for manipulation of a volume of an audio output supplied by said speaker.

34 . The communication device as claimed in claim 33 , wherein said circuitry for manipulation of a volume of an audio output supplied by said speaker comprises:

circuitry for adjusting a ring volume to determine a level of volume in which said user responds to a ring.

35 . The communication device as claimed in claim 32 , wherein said processing unit configured to measure said hearing capability is operably coupled with circuitry for manipulation of a frequency of audio output supplied by said speaker.

36 . The communication device as claimed in claim 35 , wherein said circuitry for manipulation of a frequency of audio output supplied by said speaker comprises:

circuitry for adjusting a ring frequency to determine a frequency level in which said user responds to a ring.

37 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a display electrically coupled to said processing unit.

38 . The communication device as claimed in claim 37 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure a vision capability of a user.

39 . The communication device as claimed in claim 38 , wherein said processing unit configured to measure a vision capability of a user comprises:

said processing unit configured to measure said vision capability of said user operably coupled with circuitry for manipulation of a font size of a text output on said display.

40 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a keyboard.

41 . The communication device as claimed in claim 40 , wherein said keyboard includes a plurality of buttons.

42 . The communication device as claimed in claim 41 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure a dexterity of a user.

43 . The communication device as claimed in claim 42 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure depression of one of said plurality of buttons by said user.

44 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a motion detection device electrically coupled to said processing unit.

45 . The communication device as claimed in claim 44 , wherein said motion detection device is an accelerometer.

46 . The communication device as claimed in claim 44 , wherein said motion detection device is configured to measure a tremor measurement of a user.

47 . The communication device as claimed in claim 44 , wherein said processing unit is configured for determining a fall of a user through motion detected by said motion detection device.

48 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a location determination device electrically coupled to said processing unit.

49 . The communication device as claimed in claim 48 , wherein said location determination device is a global positioning system receiver.

50 . The communication device as claimed in claim 48 , wherein said processing unit is configured to monitor movement of a user and is operably coupled with said location determination device.

51 . The communication device as claimed in claim 50 , wherein said processing unit is configured to deliver an alert message when movement of said user ceases for a designated period.

52 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , further comprising a visual projection device electrically coupled to said processing unit.

53 . The communication device as claimed in claim 52 , wherein said visual projection device is configured for projecting an image onto a surface.

54 . The communication device as claimed in claim 53 , wherein said processing unit is configured to measure a vision capability of a user.

55 . The communication device as claimed in claim 54 , wherein said processing unit configured to measure a vision capability of a user comprises:

circuitry for manipulation of said image on said surface operably coupled with said processing unit configured to measure said vision capability of said user.

59 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein said processing unit comprises a memory.

60 . The communication device as claimed in claim 59 , wherein said memory stores data relating to measurement of said physiological condition.

61 . The communication device as claimed in claim 20 , wherein said processing unit is configured to transfer data relating to measurement of said physiological condition.

65 . The communication device as claimed in claim 60 , wherein said processing unit is configured to encrypt data relating to measurement of said physiological condition stored in said memory.

67 . The communication device as claimed in claim 51 , wherein said processing unit is configured to encrypt said alert message.

68 . A communication device, comprising:

a housing;

a processing unit enclosed by said housing; and

a sensor electrically coupled to said processing unit for measuring a first physiological condition, wherein said communication device is configured for measurement of a second physiological condition through manipulation of an output of said device and analysis of a user response.

a device, said device configured for at least one of communication transfer or audio/video playback, said device including a sensing system for measurement of a physiological condition to an output of said device and analysis of a user response.
