Abstract

A computer-implemented system of centrally managing core enterprise reference data of an enterprise that includes one or more processing units and one or more memory units, the system includes a storage medium having stored therein a process layer that implements one or more business configuration processes of one or more enterprise-level business workflows. The system further includes a storage medium having stored therein a service layer underlying the process layer that provides services that enable process tasks for the one or more business configuration processes and a storage medium having stored therein a data layer underlying the service layer and storing in a repository, core enterprise reference data that is received from one or more external data sources using a staging strategy that reduces data transfer time between the core enterprise reference data repository and the one or more external data sources.

5. The system of claim 4 wherein the staging strategy further comprises transferring the inbound data as reference data from the one or more inbound staging tables to one or more core master data management tables of the core reference data repository.

6. The system of claim 5 wherein data cleansing occurs during the transfer of data from the one or more inbound staging tables to the one or more core master data management tables.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the data layer provides outbound data to one or more data targets.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein the one or more data targets comprise one or more persistent data stores associated with one or more external enterprises.

9. The system of claim 7 wherein the one or more data targets comprise one or more operational staging data stores associated with one or more external enterprise solution components.

10. The system of claim 7 wherein the staging strategy further comprises transferring data from one or more inbound staging tables of one or more inbound staging areas to one or more outbound staging tables of one or more uncoupled outbound staging areas from which the data is then transferred to one or more data targets.

11. The system of claim 7 wherein the staging strategy further comprises transferring reference data from one or more master data management tables of the core reference data repository to one or more outbound staging tables of one or more outbound staging areas from which the data is then transferred to one or more data targets.

12. The system of claim 7 wherein the data layer provides synchronization of reference data stored within one or more core master data management tables and outbound data in one or more outbound staging tables.

13. A computer-implemented method of centrally managing core enterprise reference data of an enterprise that comprises one or more processing units and one or more memory units, the method comprising:

providing, by a computer, a process layer that implements one or more business configuration processes of one or more enterprise-level business workflows;

providing, by the computer, a service layer that underlies the process layer providing services that enable process tasks for the one or more business configuration processes; and

providing, by the computer, a data layer that underlies the service layer and stores in a core enterprise reference data repository, core enterprise reference data that is received from one or more external data sources using a staging strategy that reduces data transfer time between the core enterprise reference data repository and the one or more external data sources, the staging strategy comprising transferring the core enterprise reference data from the one or more external data sources through one or more inbound staging tables and one or more outbound staging tables to one or more data targets associated with the one or more external data sources, wherein core enterprise reference data in the outbound staging tables is continuously synchronized with core reference data stored within one or more core master data management tables.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the one or more external data sources comprise one or more persistent data stores associated with one or more external enterprises.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein the one or more external data sources comprise one or more operational staging data stores associated with one or more enterprise solution components.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the staging strategy comprises transferring inbound data from the one or more external data sources to one or more inbound staging tables of one or more inbound staging areas.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein the staging strategy further comprises transferring the inbound data as reference data from the one or more inbound staging tables to one or more core master data management tables of the core reference data repository.

18. The method of claim 17 further comprising cleansing data during the transfer of data from the one or more inbound staging tables to the one or more core master data management tables.

19. The method of claim 13 wherein the data layer further provides outbound data to one or more data targets.

20. The method of claim 19 wherein the one or more data targets comprise one or more persistent data stores associated with one or more external enterprises.
