Abstract

A dialysis machine valve manifold assembly includes a plurality of pneumatic valves; a plate including a first side and a second side, the plurality of pneumatic valves mounted to the first side of the plate, the second side of the plate defining a plurality of pneumatic flow paths; and a port header mounted removably to the plate, the port header including a plurality of ports configured to connect sealingly to pneumatic tubing, the ports in fluid communication with the pneumatic valves via the pneumatic flow paths defined in the plate.

Claims (17)

1. A dialysis machine valve manifold assembly comprising:

a plurality of pneumatic valves;

a first plate including a first side and a second side, the plurality of pneumatic valves mounted to the first side of the first plate, the second side of the first plate defining a plurality of pneumatic flow paths; and

a port header mounted removably to the first plate, the port header including a plurality of ports configured to connect sealingly to pneumatic tubing, the ports in fluid communication with the pneumatic valves via the pneumatic flow paths defined in the first plate.

2. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , wherein the port header is mounted removably to the first side of the first plate along with the plurality of pneumatic valves.

3. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , the header includes a flow path from each port to a header opening, the flow paths of the first plate each leading to a plate opening, the header openings mating with the plate openings for fluid communication between the ports and the pneumatic valves.

4. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 3 , one of the first plate and header defining a seal-receiving groove around each plate opening or header opening.

5. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , which includes a second plate connected sealingly to the first plate, at least one of a pressure holding reservoir and a pneumatic pump connected to the second plate.

6. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 5 , which includes at least one noise reducing filter located between the first and second plates.

7. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 5 , the second plate connected sealingly to the first plate via a gasket that spans at least most of an area of interface between the first and second plates.

8. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , the pneumatic valves including electrical contacts, the valves further mounted to a printed circuit board (“PCB”) such that the electrical contacts communicate electrically with electrodes formed on the PCB.

9. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , wherein the port header is a first port header, the flow paths are first flow paths, the valves are first valves, and which includes a second port header mounted removably to the first plate, the second port header including second ports communicating with second valves attached to the first plate via second flow paths formed in the first plate.

10. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , further including a pneumatic pump and a heat sinking member that transfers heat from the pump to the manifold.

11. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 10 , the heat sinking member including a thermally conductive pad connected to the pump.

12. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 1 , further including a pneumatic pump having a first pump head for producing positive pressure for at least one of the valves and a second pump head for producing negative pressure for at least one of the valves.

13. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 12 , including first and second reservoirs, the first reservoir storing positive pressure from the first pump head for the at least one positive pressure valve, the second reservoir storing negative pressure from the second pump head for the at least one negative pressure valve.

14. The dialysis machine valve manifold assembly of claim 13 , the first and second reservoirs formed in a single reservoir housing connected sealingly to the manifold.
