METHODS FOR REDUCING NEOVASCULARIZATION OR EDEMA
Drug delivery devices for reducing or preventing neovascularization or edema in the eye by implanting in the eye a bioerodible drug delivery system comprising an immunosuppressive agent and a bioerodible polymer.
1 . A drug delivery device comprising an anti-inflammatory steroid and a biodegradable polymer.
2 . The device of claim 1 wherein the steroid is dexamethasone.
3 . The device of claim 2 wherein the biodegradable polymer is a polylactic acid polyglycolic acid (PLGA) copolymer.
4 . The device of claim 3 wherein the device comprises about 60 weight % dexamethasone.
5 . The device of claim 3 , wherein the device is a solid bioerodible implant.
6 . The device of claim 5 , wherein the PLGA is an about 50/50 mixture of glycolic acid monomers and lactic acid monomers.
