Abstract

The invention provides DNA compositions that relate to transgenic insect resistant maize plants. Also provided are assays for detecting the presence of the maize DAS-59122-7 event based on the DNA sequence of the recombinant construct inserted into the maize genome and the DNA sequences flanking the insertion site. Kits and conditions useful in conducting the assays are provided.

Claims (10)

1. An isolated DNA molecule comprising a junction sequence comprising a sequence of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof.

2. An insect resistant corn plant, or parts thereof, wherein DNA having at least one nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof, forms part of the plant's genome, wherein said plant or said parts thereof comprise corn event DAS-59122-7.

3. A descent plant of the insect resistant corn plant of claim 2 , wherein DNA having at least one nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof, forms part of the descent plant's genome, wherein said descent plant comprises said corn event DAS-59122-7.

4. A seed of the plant of claim 2 or 3 , wherein DNA having at least one nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof, forms part of the seed's genome, wherein said seed comprises said corn event DAS-59122-7.

5. A method of producing an insect resistant corn plant, said method comprising breeding with the plant of claim 2 or 3 , and selecting progeny by analyzing for at least one nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof, wherein said progeny comprises said corn event DAS-59122-7.

6. A method of detecting event DAS-59122-7 in corn tissue comprising:

(a) contacting a sample of said corn tissue with a polynucleotide probe that hybridizes under stringent hybridization conditions with one or more DNA sequences of SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof;

(b) subjecting said sample and probe to stringent hybridization conditions; and

(c) analyzing for hybridization of the probe.

7. A DNA detection kit comprising a polynucleotide probe capable of uniquely identifying event DAS-59122-7, wherein said probe is SEQ ID NO: 32, 34, or complements thereof.
