Abstract

The invention provides DNA compositions that relate to transgenic insect resistant maize plants. Also provided are assays for detecting the presence of the maize DAS-59122-7 event based on the DNA sequence of the recombinant construct inserted into the maize genome and the DNA sequences flanking the insertion site. Kits and conditions useful in conducting the assays are provided.

Claims (8)

1. A kit for identifying event DAS-59122-7 in a biological sample, said kit comprising at least a probe or first primer which selectively detects a DAS-59122-7 specific region within SEQ ID NO: 23 or the full complement of SEQ ID NO: 23, said region comprising a junction sequence, wherein said probe or first primer comprises at least eleven nucleotides, and wherein said probe or first primer is capable of hybridizing under stringent conditions with DNA from corn event DAS-59122-7 but does not hybridize under said stringent conditions with DNA from a corn plant other than DAS-59122-7.

2. A method for identifying DAS-59122-7 in a biological sample comprising selectively detecting a DNA molecule in a biological sample with a probe or first primer which selectively detects a DAS-59122-7 specific region within SEQ ID NO: 23 or the full complement of SEQ ID NO: 23, said region comprising a junction sequence, wherein said DNA molecule comprises at least one junction sequence.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said selectively detecting a DNA molecule comprises amplifying a DNA fragment from a nucleic acid present in said biological sample using a polymerase chain reaction comprising said first primer and a second primer, wherein said first primer recognizes a sequence within the 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7 and said second primer recognizes a sequence within the foreign DNA of DAS-59122-7 or within the 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7.

4. The method of claim 2 , wherein said selectively detecting a DNA molecule comprises amplifying a DNA fragment from a nucleic acid present in said biological sample using a polymerase chain reaction comprising said first primer and a second primer, wherein said first primer recognizes said junction sequence of DAS-59122-7 and said second primer recognizes a sequence within the foreign DNA of DAS-59122-7 or within the 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7.

5. The method of claim 2 , wherein said probe or first primer is capable of hybridizing under stringent conditions with DNA from corn event DAS-59122-7 but does not hybridize under said stringent conditions with DNA from a corn plant other than DAS-59122-7.

6. A kit for identifying event DAS-59122-7 in a biological sample, said kit comprising a primer pair capable of detecting at least one DAS-59122-7 junction sequence within SEQ ID NO: 23 or the full complement of SEQ ID NO: 23, wherein said primer pair when utilized in a PCR reaction is capable of producing an amplicon unique to event DAS-59122-7, said amplicon comprising said junction sequence.

7. The kit of claim 6 , wherein said primer pair comprises a first primer and a second primer, and wherein said first primer recognizes a sequence within the 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7 and said second primer recognizes a sequence within the foreign DNA of DAS-59122-7 or within said 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7.

8. The kit of claim 6 , wherein said primer pair comprises a first primer and a second primer, and wherein said first primer recognizes said junction sequence of DAS-59122-7 and said second primer recognizes a sequence within the foreign DNA of DAS-59122-7 or within said 5′ or 3′ flanking region of DAS-59122-7.
