Drug Delivery Management System
The present invention relates to assisting patients in the taking of medication, and to assisting third parties in accumulating information regarding patient medication intake. The invention may be embodied a system including a portable medication monitor used in association with an instrumented medication package to provide intake data acquisition and patient support functions. The system may further be connected to a computer or computer network allowing information distribution between the medication monitor and third parties, such as physicians or pharmacists.
1 . A system for detecting unauthorized access, the system comprising:
a plurality of devices, each device having an integrated access sensor; and
a plurality of transmitters integrated with corresponding ones of the devices, wherein each of the plurality of transmitters selectively transmits data after a corresponding device is associated with an identified object.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the associated device stores identified object information.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of transmitters selectively transmits data when a corresponding device is disassociated with the identified object.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein an alert is transmitted when the device is associated with the identified object and dis-associated with the identified object.
5 . The system of claim 2 , further comprising a plurality of monitors communicable with the plurality of devices to assess access.
6 . The system of claim 3 , wherein each of the plurality of monitors compares the transmitted data against stored data and transmits an alert.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein at least one action is initiated in response to the alert.
8 . The system of claim 3 , wherein each of the plurality of monitors compares the transmitted data against location information and transmits an alert.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein at least one action is initiated in response to the alert.
10 . A method for detecting unauthorized access, the method comprising:
providing a plurality of devices, each device having an integrated access sensor;
associating an identified object with one of the plurality of devices; and
transmitting data associated with the identified object via a plurality of transmitters integrated with corresponding ones of the devices.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the step of associating stores identified object information in the corresponding device.
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the step of transmitting further includes the step of transmitting data when a corresponding device is disassociated with the identified object.
13 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising the steps of:
transmitting an alert when the device is associated with the identified object; and
transmitting an alert when the device is dis-associated with the identified object.
14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising the step of providing a plurality of monitors communicable with the plurality of devices to assess access.
15 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising the step of comparing transmitted data against stored data and transmitting an alert.
16 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising the step of initiating at least one action in response to the alert.
17 . The method of claim 14 , further comprising the step of comparing transmitted data against location information and transmitting an alert.
18 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising the step of initiating at least one action in response to the alert.
19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the step of comparing checks time of access against stored information.
20 . The method of claim 20 , wherein access times are stored for analysis.
