Abstract

The personalized content system of the system combines a summary music identification value creation and identification algorithm that represents a mathematical summary music identification of a song, an audio file, or other relational music criteria and data (e.g. title, artist, genre, style, beats per minute, etc.) or any combination thereof. The derived value represents the musical taste or style attributes of a song or style. The analysis and generation of the summary music identification value is intended to take place while outside the vehicle where attention can be paid and vehicle distraction and safety is not an issue. A user can generate a single summary music identification value or can generate multiple summary music identification values for different criteria. In other cases, summary music identification values can be defined for genre, but with a much more personal touch possible than with fixed playlist radio stations. In another embodiment, a user can obtain and use someone else's summary music identification value (e.g. a celebrity, artist, friend, etc.) and use it with the system.

Claims (24)

1 . A system comprising:

a storage device for storing a summary music identification value;

a processor in communication with the storage device for receiving the summary music identification value and assembling content based on the summary music identification value;

a playback device in communication with the processor to present the assembled content to a user.

2 . The system of claim 1 where the processor is an internet server.

3 . The system of claim 2 where the playback device is wirelessly coupled to the internet server.

4 . The system of claim 3 where the playback device is located in a vehicle.

5 . The system of claim 4 where the playback device is voice controlled.

6 . A method for controlling an infotainment system in a vehicle comprising:

selecting a summary music identification value from a stored location;

using the summary music identification value to generate a playlist of content;

playing back the playlist of content in the vehicle.

7 . The method of claim 6 where the step of generating a playlist of content is accomplished in the vehicle using locally stored content.

8 . The method of claim 6 where the step of generating a playlist of content is accomplished remotely and is communicated to the vehicle.

9 . The method of claim 8 where the playlist is generated at an internet server.

10 . The method of claim 8 where the playlist is generated at a home computer.

11 . A method of controlling an infotainment system in a vehicle comprising:

playing back content on the infotainment system;

providing a command to the infotainment system to generate a summary music identification value based on the content being played;

using the summary music identification value to generate a playlist of additional content to be played back on the infotainment system.

12 . The method of claim 11 where the command is a voice command.

13 . The system of claim 11 where the step of the playlist is generated from content stored locally in the vehicle.

14 . The system of claim 11 where the playlist is generated at an internet server from content stored remotely from the vehicle.

15 . The system of claim 11 where the playlist is generated at a home computer from content stored remotely from the vehicle.
