Abstract

An article of footwear including a sole and an upper with an exterior and interior surface, and one or more bladders which comprises at least one of the exterior or interior surfaces of the upper. The bladder comprising sheets of polyurethane or polyester film attached together to form an airtight seal. The article of footwear also includes a inflation mechanism for selectively introducing air in the one or more bladders. The inflation mechanism is located under the foot of the wearer to be activated by the normal action of the wearer to inflate the one or more bladders. The article of footwear may also include an assembly for connecting several tubes to one under foot inflation mechanism. The article of footwear may also include inflatable laces that are inflated by an underfoot inflation mechanism.

Claims (6)

1. A sockliner, comprising: an inflatable bladder and an inflation mechanism; wherein said inflatable bladder and said inflation mechanism are monolithic, and wherein said inflation mechanism is disposed in a location which allows operation of said inflation mechanism by downward pressure of a user's foot upon said sockliner.

The sockliner of claim 1 , wherein said bladder comprises at least one heel compartment, at least one medial compartment, at least one forefoot compartment, at least one first plalanx compartment, at least one second to fifth phalanx compartment, and at least one lateral compartment, said compartments being defined by a periphery weld line and one or more interior weld lines.

3. The sockliner of claim 2 , wherein said bladder comprises one heel compartment that is said inflation mechanism.

4. The sockliner of claim 2 , wherein said bladder comprises a plurality of medial compartments, a plurality of forefoot compartments, a plurality of first phalanx compartments, a plurality of second to fifth phalanx compartments, and a plurality of lateral compartments.

5. The sockliner of claim 1 , further comprising a deflation mechanism.

6. The sockliner of claim 5 , wherein said deflation mechanism is at least one perforation in said bladder which is generally closed but opens when pressure within said bladder reaches a predetermined amount.
