Abstract

There are disclosed methods, computer readable media, and apparatus for generation of processed traffic. Traffic, including plural data units for transmission to a first endpoint, may be provided. The provided traffic may be processed and held until a predefined amount of processed traffic has accumulated. The held traffic may then be released for transmission to the first endpoint.

Claims (44)

1. A method of generating encrypted network traffic, the method comprising

providing traffic comprising plural data units

a traffic generator encrypting and encapsulating the data units

the traffic generator holding the encrypted and encapsulated data units until a predefined quantity of encrypted and encapsulated data units has accumulated

the traffic generator transmitting the accumulated encrypted and encapsulated data units via a network at a transmission rate greater than a processing rate for encrypting and encapsulating the data units.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein encrypting and encapsulating is done in accordance with an IPSec protocol.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

simulating a traffic generating subnet to provide the traffic.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

the traffic generator simulating an encryption gateway to encrypt and encapsulate the data units.

5. An apparatus for generating encrypted network traffic, the apparatus comprising:

a processor

a memory

wherein the processor and the memory comprise circuits and software for

providing traffic comprising plural data units

encrypting and encapsulating the data units

holding the encrypted and encapsulated data units until a predefined quantity of encrypted and encapsulated data units has accumulated

transmitting the accumulated encrypted and encapsulated data units via a network at a transmission rate greater than a processing rate for encrypting and encapsulating the data units.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 wherein the encrypting and encapsulating is done in accordance with an IPSec protocol.

7. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the processor and the memory further comprise circuits and software for simulating a traffic generating subnet to provide the traffic.

8. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the processor and the memory further comprise circuits and software for simulating an encryption gateway to encrypt and encapsulate the data units.

9. A storage medium having instructions stored thereon which when executed by a processor cause the processor to generate encrypted network traffic by performing actions comprising:

providing traffic comprising plural data units

encrypting and encapsulating the data units

holding the encrypted and encapsulated data units until a predefined quantity of encrypted and encapsulated data units has accumulated

transmitting the accumulated encrypted and encapsulated data units via a network at a transmission rate greater than a processing rate for encrypting and encapsulating the data units.

10. The storage medium of claim 9 wherein the encrypting and encapsulating is done in accordance with an IPSec protocol.

11. The storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the actions performed further comprise:

simulating a traffic generating subnet to provide the traffic.

12. The storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the actions performed further comprise:

simulating an encryption gateway to encrypt and encapsulate the data units.

13. A computing device to generate processed traffic, the computing device comprising:

a processor

a memory coupled with the processor

a storage medium having instructions stored thereon which when executed cause the computing device to perform actions comprising

providing traffic comprising plural data units

encrypting and encapsulating the data units

holding the encrypted and encapsulated data units until a predefined quantity of encrypted and encapsulated data units has accumulated

transmitting the accumulated encrypted and encapsulated data units via a network at a transmission rate greater than a processing rate for encrypting and encapsulating the data units.

14. The computing device of claim 13 wherein the encrypting and encapsulating is done in accordance with an IPSec protocol.

15. The computing device of claim 13 , wherein the actions performed further comprise:

simulating a traffic generating subnet to provide the traffic.

16. The computing device of claim 13 , wherein the actions performed further comprise:

simulating an encryption gateway to encrypt and encapsulate the data units.
