Abstract

The invention provides for antibodies produced in transgenic birds as chickens.

Claims (11)

1. A composition comprising an isolated mixture of transgene-encoded exogenous monoclonal antibodies produced in an avian oviduct cell by a germ-line transgenic avian, wherein the mixture of the transgene-encoded exogenous monoclonal antibodies comprises an avian oviduct-specific oligosaccharide profile and obtained from egg white of the germ-line transgenic avian and wherein the germ-line transgenic avian is a chicken.

2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the oviduct cell is a magnum cell.

3. The composition of claim 1 wherein the oviduct cell is a tubular gland cell.

4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical formulation.

5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the exogenous monoclonal antibodies are human antibodies.

6. An isolated mixture of monoclonal antibodies wherein the monoclonal antibodies are encoded by a transgene contained in an oviduct cell of a germ-line transgenic avian and comprise an avian oviduct-specific oligosaccharide profile found in egg white of the germ-line transgenic avian and wherein the germ-line transgenic avian is a chicken.

7. The antibody of claim 6 wherein the oviduct cell is a tubular gland cell.

8. The antibody of claim 6 contained in a pharmaceutical formulation.

9. A composition comprising an isolated mixture of monoclonal antibodies wherein the antibodies are encoded by a transgene present in the genome of oviduct cells in a transgenic avian and isolated from egg white of a hard shell egg produced by the transgenic avian and wherein the antibodies comprise an oviduct-specific oligosaccharide profile, and wherein the transgenic avian is a chicken.

10. The composition of claim 9 wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical formulation.

11. The composition of claim 9 wherein the oviduct cell is a tubular gland cell.
