Abstract

This invention relates to systems and methods for managing livestock, such as cattle, from conception to consumption. More particularly, this invention relates to systems and methods in which users, such as producers, feedlot managers, packers, buyers, sellers, and consumers, are brought together through shared information and improved communication. Users may access one or more applications, tools, and/or systems to increase the value of each animal, monitor and track each animal, and improve the efficiency of their operation.

Claims (30)

1 . A method of enabling a user to manage source materials related to a livestock operation, said method comprising:

enabling said user to input information related to said operation into a central database;

storing said input information in said central database;

calculating the value of said source materials; and

determining a plurality of options to utilize said source materials with said operation.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said source materials are selected from the group consisting of: stormwater, wastewater, manure, irrigation water, soil, compost, milling by-products, animal carcasses, and fertilizer.

3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

presenting said user with a plurality of tests for determining the quality of said source materials.

4 . The method of claim 3 further comprising:

selecting a test from said plurality of test; and

inputting results from said selected test.

5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

presenting the user with maintenance practices relating to said source materials.

6 . A system of enabling a user to manage source materials related to a livestock operation, said system comprising:

a server;

a plurality of computers coupled to said server; and

a central database coupled to said server;

wherein said server is configured to:

enable said user to input information related to said operation into said central database;

store said input information in said central database;

calculate the value of said source materials; and

determine a plurality of options to utilize said source materials with said operation.

7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein said source materials are selected from the group consisting of: stormwater, wastewater, manure, irrigation water, soil, compost, milling by-products, animal carcasses, and fertilizer.

8 . The system of claim 6 , wherein said server is further configured to:

present said user with a plurality of tests for determining the quality of said source materials.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein said server is further configured to:

select a test from said plurality of test; and

input results from said selected test.

10 . The system of claim 6 , wherein said server is configured to:

present the user with maintenance practices relating to said source materials.
