Electronic methods for the detection of analytes
The present invention is directed to the detection of target analytes using electronic techniques, particularly AC techniques.
1. An apparatus for the detection of a non-nucleic acid target analyte in a test sample, comprising:
a) a test chamber comprising gold electrodes, each electrode comprises:
a covalently attached passivation species comprising a protein binding ligand;
wherein said protein binding ligand is covalently attached to said electrode via a spacer,
wherein said spacer is attached to said electrode with more than one sulfur moiety, and
wherein said test chamber further comprises at least one second measuring electrode,
b) a voltage source electrically connected to said test chamber; and
c) an electronic detector.
2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a processor coupled to said electrodes and configured to receive an output signal.
3. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said spacer is attached to said electrode using two sulfur moieties.
4. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said protein binding ligand comprises a protein.
5. The apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein said protein is a peptide.
6. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said protein binding ligand comprises a substrate of an enzyme.
7. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said passivation species comprises an insulator.
8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein said insulator comprises a C1 to C12 alkyl group.
9. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said passivation species comprises a conductive oligomer.
