Abstract

A shelving system having a top, bottom and intermediate shelves mounted on vertical supports. The intermediate shelves are mounted on adjustable brackets that permit individual removal of the intermediate shelves without disturbing the top and bottom shelves. The adjustable brackets comprise at one end a pin that is adapted to be inserted into a series of apertures formed along the length of each support. Opposite the pin, a mounting member is sized and shaped to receive a corner of each shelf. A stop is formed on the bracket between the pins and mounting member.

Claims (36)

1. An adjustable shelving assembly, comprising:

a vertically-extending support post having a sidewall;

at least one aperture defined in the sidewall of the vertically-extending support post, the aperture having an asymmetric shape;

a bracket having

a first end configured to be removably received within the aperture,

a second end opposite the first end and configured to protrude from the aperture, the second end comprising a hook,

a stop disposed between the first end and the second end to limit an amount of insertion of the bracket within the aperture, and

a protrusion on the first end and extending from the stop in a direction opposite from the second end and configured to be removably received within the asymmetric shape; and

a wire-frame shelf configured to be at least partially supported upon the second end of the bracket, wherein the hook is configured to receive a wire of the wire frame.

2. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the stop is substantially disk shaped.

3. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the stop is integral with the first end and the second end.

4. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the first end is elongated along a longitudinal axis, and the stop is disposed perpendicular to the axis.

5. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the shelving system includes a plurality of the apertures.

6. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the bracket has a unitary construction.

7. The adjustable shelving assembly of claim 1 , wherein the bracket is a one-piece structure.

8. The adjustable shelving assembly of claim 1 , wherein the stop has an outboard surface and the hook extends from the outboard surface of the stop.

9. The adjustable shelving assembly of claim 8 , wherein the stop and the hook are formed as a one-piece structure.

10. The adjustable shelving assembly of claim 9 , wherein the hook extends in a smooth transition from the outboard surface of the stop.

11. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the hook has an inner surface and the stop has an outboard surface, the inner surface of the hook and the outboard surface of the stop forming a space to receive the wire of the wire frame.

12. The adjustable shelving system of claim 1 , wherein the stop has an inboard surface which covers the aperture.

13. An adjustable shelving assembly, comprising:

a vertically-extending support post having a sidewall;

a plurality of spaced-apart apertures defined in the sidewall of the vertically-extending support post, each of the plurality of spaced-apart apertures having an asymmetric shape;

a bracket having

a first end configured to be removably received within one of the plurality of spaced-apart apertures and a constant asymmetric cross-section that corresponds to the asymmetric shape of the plurality of spaced-apart apertures, and

a second end opposite the first end and configured to protrude from the aperture, the second end comprising a hook; and

a wire-frame shelf configured to be at least partially supported upon the second end of the bracket, wherein the hook is configured to receive a wire of the wire frame.

14. An adjustable shelving assembly, comprising:

a vertically-extending support post having a sidewall;

a plurality of spaced-apart apertures defined in the sidewall of the vertically-extending support post, each of the plurality of apertures having an asymmetric shape;

a bracket having

a first end configured to be removably received within one of the plurality of spaced-apart apertures and a constant asymmetric cross-section that corresponds to the asymmetric shape of the plurality of apertures,

a second end opposite the first end and configured to protrude from at least one of the plurality of apertures, the second end comprising a hook,

a stop disposed between the first end and the second end to limit an amount of insertion of the bracket within the at least one of the apertures, and

a protrusion on the first end and extending from the stop in a direction opposite from the second end and configured to be removably received within the asymmetric shape of one of the plurality of spaced-apart apertures; and

a wire-frame shelf configured to be at least partially supported upon the second end of the bracket, wherein the hook is configured to receive a wire of the wire frame.
