Abstract

An apparatus for providing an arcade game with multiple moving elements, where a player must engage all moving elements with a playing piece to engage a target and earn a reward. The game apparatus has a guiding member having a first motion, a target surface having a second motion, and a playing piece initiated into the game apparatus by a player. The playing piece engages the guiding mechanism having a first motion. In order to properly engage the target surface having a second motion, the player must initiate the playing piece at a proper time such that the guiding mechanism guides the playing piece to the target.

Claims (33)

1 . A game apparatus comprising:

a playing piece directed by a player;

a guiding mechanism having a first motion; and

a target surface having a second motion, said second motion being different than said first motion, and at least one target, wherein said player directs said playing piece to engage said guiding mechanism in order to engage said target.

2 - 15 . (canceled)

16 . A method for providing a game apparatus comprising:

providing a guiding mechanism having a first motion;

providing a target surface having a second motion and at least one target; and

providing a playing piece directed by a player such that said playing piece engages said guiding mechanism in order to engage said target.

17 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 wherein said playing piece frictionally engages said guiding mechanism.

18 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said guiding mechanism includes a rail for directing said playing piece in a pre-determined manner.

19 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said first motion is a cyclic motion.

20 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said playing piece is displaced by a gravitational force.

21 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said playing piece is a token.

22 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said player directs said playing piece by inserting said playing piece into a playing piece acceptor.

23 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , wherein said target is a well, and wherein said player may direct said playing piece into said well.

24 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , further comprising providing a target detection mechanism for determining when said playing piece successfully engages said target.

25 . The method for providing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 16 , further comprising providing a default well, wherein said playing piece is directed to said default well upon failing to engage said target.

26 . A method for playing a game apparatus comprising:

initiating, by a player, a playing piece into said game apparatus;

engaging a guiding mechanism having a first motion with said playing piece; and

engaging a target surface having a second motion with said playing piece, said target surface including a target, said player receiving a reward upon successfully engaging said target with said playing piece, said first motion different than said second motion.

27 . The method for playing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 26 , further comprising providing a default well, wherein said playing piece is directed into said default well if said playing piece fails to engage said target.

28 . The method for playing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 26 , wherein said first motion is a cyclic bi-directional motion and said second motion is a cyclic bi-directional motion in a different direction then said first motion.

29 . The method for playing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 26 , wherein said target is a well, said playing piece engaging said well if said playing piece travels through said well.

30 . The method for playing a game apparatus as claimed in claim 26 , further comprising rewarding said player if said player directs said playing piece in such a manner as to properly engage said target.

31 - 39 . (canceled)

40 . A game apparatus comprising:

an automatically moving guide member;

an automatically moving target member having at least one target well;

at least one stationary well;

a gaming token configured to be manually released by a user into said guide to at least one of slide and roll in a direction at least generally towards said target such that said token can engage at least one of said at least one target well and said at least one stationary well; and

a reward dispenser configured to dispense an award determined, at least in part, by said engagement of said gaming token with said at least one of said at least one target well and said at least one stationary well.
