Stable S-(+)-abscisic acid liquid and soluble granule formulations
View Patent ↗The present invention generally relates to stable S-(+)-abscisic acid liquid and soluble granule formulations and methods of making and using such formulations.
1. A soluble 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid granule formulation consisting of:
a) 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid powder;
b) a lactose powder or a sucrose powder;
c) a sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate wetting agent;
d) maltodextrin powder of about 10% dextrose equivalence;
e) Brij 98;
f) optionally citric acid;
g) and optionally water.
2. A soluble 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid granule formulation consisting of:
a) about 21.1% by weight of 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid powder;
b) about 71.0% by weight of lactose powder;
c) about 1.0% by weight of a sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate wetting agent;
d) about 4.0% by weight of maltodextrin powder of about 10% dextrose equivalence;
e) about 1.0% by weight of Brij 98;
f) about 2.0% by weight of citric acid;
g) and optionally water.
3. A soluble 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid granule formulation consisting of:
a) about 21.1% by weight of 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid powder;
b) about 71.0% by weight of lactose powder;
c) about 1.0% by weight of a sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate wetting agent;
d) about 4.0% by weight of maltodextrin powder of about 10% dextrose equivalence;
e) about 1.0% by weight of Brij 98;
f) and optionally water.
4. A process of making the soluble 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid granule formulation of claim 1 comprising the steps of
a) blending the 2-cis, 4-trans-(S)-abscisic acid powder with the lactose or sucrose and the maltodextrin powder in the presence of the sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate resulting in a formation of a dry blend;
b) wetting the blend with Brij 98;
c) mixing the blend of step (b) into a homogenous paste suitable for extrusion;
d) extruding the paste of step (c) into fine pellets of approximately uniform size; and
e) drying the pellets of step (d) to less than about 1% moisture.
