Abstract

A method is disclosed for presenting static and dynamic data corresponding to an entity within an application on a mobile device. An entity object is created as part of a data model within the application such that the entity object has a plurality of fields with the plurality of fields having static data corresponding to the entity. Based on the static data corresponding to the entity, dynamic data corresponding to the entity is received into the entity object from at least one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device. The static and dynamic data from the entity object corresponding to the entity is displayed simultaneously within a user interface of the application in a single presentation view.

Claims (38)

1. A method of presenting static and dynamic data corresponding to an entity within an application on a mobile device, the method comprising:

creating an entity object within the application, the entity object having a plurality of fields, the plurality of fields having static data corresponding to the entity;

receiving, based on the static data corresponding to the entity, a plurality of pages of dynamic data from at least one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device, the plurality of pages of dynamic data corresponding to the entity;

including the plurality of pages of dynamic data in the entity object;

displaying a subset of user interface elements in a rotating manner responsive to receiving user input, each of the displayed user interface element corresponding to one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data;

receiving selection of one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data for display; and

displaying simultaneously, within a user interface of the application, the static data corresponding to the entity and the selected page of dynamic data based on data stored in the entity object.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one of the plurality of applications comprises a service on a data network.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one service on the data network comprises an instant messenger service, a telephone service, a maps service, a weather service, a blogging service, and a location-based service.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic data comprises data from a source external to the entity, the dynamic data corresponding to the entity comprising one of data from a network service related to maps corresponding to a location of the entity, traffic corresponding to the location of the entity, and weather corresponding to the location of the entity.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the dynamic data comprises data from a source external to the entity, the dynamic data corresponding to the entity comprising one of data from a network service related to presence of the entity, data related to chat conversations of the entity or data related to photos of interest to the entity.

6. A system for presenting static and dynamic data corresponding to an entity within an application on a mobile device, the system comprising a processor operably linked to:

a data entity manager configured to create an entity object within an application, the entity object having a plurality of fields, the plurality of fields having static data corresponding to the entity; and

a dynamic data manager configured to:

receive, based on the static data corresponding to the entity, a plurality of pages of dynamic data from at least one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device, the plurality of pages of dynamic data corresponding to the entity, and

include the plurality of pages of dynamic data in the entity object;

an interface logic for receiving selection of one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data for display; and

a display manager configured to:

display a subset of user interface elements in a rotating manner, each of the displayed user interface element corresponding to one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data responsive to receiving user input; and

display, simultaneously, within a user interface of the application, the static data corresponding to the entity and the selected page of dynamic data based on data stored in the entity object.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the dynamic data comprises data from a source external to the entity, the dynamic data corresponding to the entity comprising one of data from a network service related to maps corresponding to a location of the entity, traffic corresponding to the location of the entity, and weather corresponding to the location of the entity.

8. The system of claim 6 , wherein the dynamic data comprises data from a source external to the entity, the dynamic data corresponding to the entity comprising one of data from a network service related to presence of the entity, data related to chat conversations of the entity or data related to photos of interest to the entity.

9. A computer readable storage medium storing instructions thereon, the instructions when executed by a processor causing the processor to generate a user interface on a mobile device for displaying static and dynamic data corresponding to an entity within an application on the mobile device, the user interface comprising:

an entity details area for displaying a plurality of fields, the plurality of fields having static data corresponding to the entity;

a dynamic content selection area for displaying a subset of a plurality of selectable tabs in a rotating manner responsive to receiving user input, each of the plurality of tabs corresponding to a page of the dynamic data received from one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device; and

a dynamic content area for displaying one of a plurality of pages of dynamic data corresponding to a tab selected in the dynamic content selection area.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein each of the plurality of tabs in the dynamic content selection area is inferred from at least one of the static data and the dynamic data.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 9 , wherein the user input comprises one of a gesture and a touch received from the screen of the mobile device.

12. A method of streaming dynamic information into a contact-centric application on a mobile device, the method comprising:

receiving from a user a selection of a contact from a contact list stored on the mobile device;

retrieving, from a storage device, static data corresponding to the contact;

creating a data model corresponding to the contact, the data model comprising an entity object within the application, the entity object having a plurality of fields, the plurality of fields having the static data corresponding to the contact;

receiving, based on the static data corresponding to the contact, a plurality of pages of dynamic data from at least one of a plurality of applications executable within the mobile device, the plurality of pages of dynamic data corresponding to the contact comprising data from one or more network services;

including the plurality of pages of dynamic data in the entity object;

displaying a subset of user interface elements in a rotating manner responsive to receiving use input, each of the displayed user interface element corresponding to one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data;

receiving selection of one of the plurality of pages of dynamic data for display; and

rendering a user interface generated on the device by the application based on the data model corresponding to the contact, the user interface displaying simultaneously the static data and selected one of pages of the dynamic data.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising executing at least one of the plurality of applications independent of the contact-centric application.
