In-flight drop location verification system
View Patent ↗A system measures a location of a drop delivered by, for example, an ink-jet type applicator. An image of the drop is captured from two directions, resulting in two drop images. Only one image capturing apparatus is needed to capture the drop images. The location in three-dimensional space is determined by using the two images but only one image capturing device. The position or location information can then be used to calibrate a coating apparatus.

ejecting a first drop from a first location, the first location having a predefined first axis coordinate and a predefined first axis threshold value associated therewith;
capturing a first drop image of the first drop in flight;
capturing a second drop image of the first drop in flight;
determining a first axis coordinate of the first drop in the first drop image;
calculating a first axis coordinate difference value between the determined first axis coordinate and the predefined first axis coordinate; and
determining whether or not the calculated first axis coordinate difference value exceeds the first axis threshold value.
