Abstract

A user equipment (UE) is provided that includes a processor configured to transmit a preceding matrix index (PMI) using one of an assigned periodic PMI reporting resource that precisely aligns with the start of an on-duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) operation mode of the UE and a first assigned periodic PMI reporting resource after the start of an on-duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) operation mode of the UE.

Claims (39)

1. A user equipment (UE), comprising:

a processor configured to control a receiver in the UE to have a periodic on-duration, the periodic on-duration associated with a discontinuous reception (DRX) operation mode of the UE;

the processor further configured to receive a resource configuration, the resource configuration indicating a periodic reporting resource;

the processor further configured to determine that data was not received properly;

the processor further configured to determine a time period for one or more potential retransmissions of the data that was not received properly, the time period occurring after the start of one of the on-durations of the DRX operation mode of the UE; and

the processor further configured to transmit precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources from at least a start of the time period for potential retransmissions until an end of the time period for potential retransmissions.

2. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to start transmitting PMIs at the start of the time period for potential retransmissions.

3. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a first precoding matrix index (PMI) using a corresponding reporting resource that is based on the resource configuration.

4. The UE of claim 3 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit the first precoding matrix index (PMI) using the corresponding reporting resource that precisely aligns with the start of the time period for potential retransmissions.

5. The UE of claim 3 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a first precoding matrix index (PMI) using the corresponding reporting resource that is a first reporting resource after the start of the time period for potential retransmissions.

6. The UE of claim 3 , wherein the corresponding reporting resource is a reporting resource that immediately precedes an on-duration.

7. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a precoding matrix index (PMI) of the PMIs using the corresponding reporting resource that is based on the resource configuration and the time period for potential retransmissions, wherein the corresponding reporting resource is a reporting resource that immediately precedes the time period for potential retransmissions.

8. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to control a transmitter in the UE to transmit the PMIs.

9. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources from the start of one of the on durations until the end of one of the on durations.

10. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration, the DRX configuration indicating the periodic on-duration, the on-duration corresponding to a time interval during which the UE receives a downlink control channel.

11. The UE of claim 10 , wherein at least one occurrence of the periodic reporting resource occurs at a time outside the on-duration.

12. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to discontinuously transmit precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources.

13. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the data that was not received properly is received during one of the on-durations.

14. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources from a start of an on-duration that precedes the time period for potential retransmissions until the end of the time period for potential retransmissions.

15. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources from a start of an on-duration that precedes the time period for potential retransmissions until an end of the on-duration that precedes the time period for potential retransmissions and from the start of the time period for potential retransmissions until the end of the time period for potential retransmissions.

16. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to transmit the one or more PMIs using the periodic reporting resource until an end of a retransmission window associated with the data.

17. The UE of claim 1 , wherein the data includes control information.

18. A method comprising:

controlling a receiver in a user equipment (UE) to have a periodic on-duration, the periodic on-duration associated with a discontinuous reception (DRX) operation mode of the UE;

receiving a resource configuration, the resource configuration indicating a periodic reporting resource;

determining that data was not received properly;

determining a time period for one or more potential retransmissions of the data that was not received properly, the time period occurring after the start of one of the on-durations of the DRX operation mode of the UE; and

transmitting precoding matrix indices (PMIs) using corresponding periodic reporting resources from at least a start of the time period for potential retransmissions until an end of the time period for potential retransmissions.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein transmitting the PMIs comprises starting transmitting PMIs at the start of the time period for potential retransmissions.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein transmitting the PMIs comprises:

transmitting a precoding matrix index (PMI) of the PMIs during a first reporting interval after a start of the time period for potential retransmissions; and

transmitting one or more additional PMIs during successive one or more reporting intervals, respectively, until the end of the time period for potential retransmissions, wherein the first reporting interval and the successive one or more reporting intervals are based on the resource configuration.

21. The method of claim 18 , wherein transmitting the PMIs comprises:

transmitting a first precoding matrix index (PMI) using a corresponding reporting resource that is based on the resource configuration.

22. The method of claim 21 , wherein transmitting the first PMI using the corresponding reporting resource includes transmitting the first PMI using a reporting resource that precisely aligns with the start of the time period for potential retransmissions.

23. The method of claim 21 , wherein transmitting the first PMI using the corresponding reporting resource includes transmitting the first PMI using a reporting resource that is a first reporting resource after the start of the the time period for potential retransmissions.

24. The method of claim 21 , wherein the corresponding reporting resource is a reporting resource that immediately precedes an on-duration.

25. The method of claim 18 , wherein transmitting the PMIs comprises:

transmitting a precoding matrix index (PMI) of the PMIs using a corresponding reporting resource that is based on the resource configuration and the time period for potential retransmissions, wherein the identified reporting resource is a reporting resource that immediately precedes the time period for potential retransmissions.
