Abstract

The present invention provides a fuel cell system for the supply of a vehicle with drinking water and oxygen, said fuel cell system comprising a fuel cell and an electrolysis cell with air cathode. In addition, the electrolysis cell is coupled to the fuel cell, and the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell are designed in such a way that a power requirement of the electrolysis cell is completely covered by a power delivery from the fuel cell.

Claims (57)

1 . A fuel cell system for the supply of a vehicle with drinking water and oxygen, said fuel cell system comprising:

a fuel cell; and

an electrolysis cell,

wherein the electrolysis cell comprises an air cathode and is coupled to the fuel cell, and

wherein the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell are designed in such a way that a power requirement of the electrolysis cell is covered by a power delivered from the fuel cell.

2 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the fuel cell comprises an anode side and a cathode side,

wherein the electrolysis cell comprises an anode side and a cathode side, and

wherein the cathode side of the electrolysis cell is coupled to the cathode side of the fuel cell.

3 . The fuel cell system according to claim 2 ,

wherein the electrolysis cell is designed in such a way that air from a cabin of the aircraft is conductable to its cathode-side.

4 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the fuel cell comprises an anode side and a cathode side,

wherein the electrolysis cell comprises an anode side and a cathode side, and

wherein the cathode side of the electrolysis cell is coupled to the anode side of the fuel cell.

5 . The fuel cell system according to claim 4 ,

wherein the fuel cell is designed in such a way that air from a cabin of the aircraft is conductable to its cathode-side.

6 . The fuel cell system according to claim 2 ,

wherein the fuel cell is designed in such a way that hydrogen or reformate gas is conductable to it on the anode side.

7 . The fuel cell system according to claim 2 , further comprising:

a heat exchanger,

wherein the heat exchanger is designed in such a way that it cools air discharged from the cathode side of the fuel cell.

8 . The fuel cell system according to claim 2 , further comprising:

an additional heat exchanger,

wherein the additional heat exchanger is designed in such a way that it cools the water/oxygen mixture discharged from the anode side of the electrolysis cell.

9 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a cooling circuit,

wherein the cooling circuit is coupled to the fuel cell in such a way that it cools the fuel cell.

10 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the fuel cell is a low-temperature fuel cell.

11 . The fuel cell system according claim 10 ,

wherein the low-temperature fuel cell is a proton exchange membrane fuel cell.

12 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the fuel cell is a high-temperature PEM fuel cell.

13 . The fuel cell system according to claim 12 ,

wherein the high-temperature PEM fuel cell is a proton exchange membrane fuel cell.

14 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the electrolysis cell is a polymer membrane electrolysis cell with catalyst.

15 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the electrolysis cell is not a polymer membrane electrolysis cell with catalyst, and

wherein the electrolysis cell is arranged in such a way it is adjusted in a temperature range to the fuel cell.

16 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 , which further comprises a plurality of fuel cells and a plurality of electrolysis cells.

17 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell are connected to form a stack, and

wherein the electrolysis cell is supplied with power directly from the fuel cell.

18 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein a power ratio between the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell is selected in such a way that a power delivery from the fuel cell corresponds precisely to a power requirement of the electrolysis cell.

19 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein a power ratio between the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell is selected in such a way that a power delivery from the fuel cell corresponds precisely to a power requirement of the electrolysis cell and of all required ancillary devices of the fuel cell system.

20 . The fuel cell system according to claim 1 ,

wherein a power ratio between the fuel cell and the electrolysis cell is selected in such a way that a power delivery from the fuel cell is higher than a power requirement of the electrolysis cell and of all required ancillary devices of the fuel cell system.

21 . The fuel cell system according to claim 20 , further comprising:

an inverter, and

a voltage transformer,

wherein the inverter and the voltage converter are designed in such a way that power from the fuel cell can be fed into an onboard network of the vehicle.

22 . An aircraft with a fuel cell system according to claim 1 .

23 . Use of a fuel system according to claim 1 in an aircraft.
