Carnitines for treating or preventing disorders caused by andropause
View Patent ↗L-carnitine, propionyl L-carnitine and/or acetyl L-carnitine are used to prevent or treat disorders of male andropause caused by ageing or by chemical or surgical castration.
1. A method of treating the symptoms of disorders caused by andropause wherein said symptoms are selected from the group consisting of: reduced libido or sexual drive and reduced quality of erections, including nocturnal erections, depression of mood and fatigue comprising
administering to a male subject in need of same L-carnitine, acetyl L-carnitine and propionyl L-carnitine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the administration is according to the following schedule.:

2. The method according to claim 1 , in which the andropause is caused by aging.
3. The method according to claim 1 , in which the andropause is caused by chemical or surgical castration.

The method according to claim 1 , in which the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is selected from the group consisting of: chloride, bromide, orotate, acid aspartate, acid citrate, magnesium citrate, acid phosphate, fumarate, and acid fumarate, magnesium fumarate, lactate, maleate and acid maleate, mucate, acid oxalate, pamoate, acid pamoate, acid sulphate, glucose phosphate, tartrate, acid tartrate, magnesium tartrate, 2-amino-ethane sulphonate, magnesium 2-amino-ethane sulphonate, choline tartrate and trichloroacetate.
5. The method according to claim 1 , in which L-carnitine, propionyl L-carnitine and acetyl L-carnitine are in any form suitable for oral or parenteral administration.
