Abstract

A plasma display panel includes a front substrate and a rear substrate faced to each other to form a discharge space therebetween. The front substrate includes a plurality of display electrodes, each made of a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. The rear substrate includes a plurality of data electrodes intersected with the display electrodes. Discharges cells are formed at the intersections of the display electrodes and the data electrodes. The data electrodes have a plurality of main electrode parts in portions faced to the display electrodes, and wiring parts connecting the main electrode parts together and narrower than the main electrode parts. Further, each main electrode part is disposed so that ends thereof in the longitudinal direction of the data electrode substantially correspond to the furthest separated long sides of the scan electrode and the sustain electrode in the discharge cell.

Claims (15)

1. A plasma display device comprising:

a plasma display panel including:

a front substrate having a plurality of display electrodes formed thereon, each of the display electrodes including a scan electrode and a sustain electrode; and

a rear substrate having a plurality of data electrodes formed thereon, the data electrodes intersecting the display electrodes,

wherein the front substrate and the rear substrate are faced to each other to form a discharge space therebetween so that a discharges cell is formed at an intersection of the display electrode and the data electrode; and

a data driver coupled to the data electrode for supplying voltage to the data electrode,

wherein the data electrode includes:

a main electrode part provided at a position facing the display electrode;

a wiring part for coupling the main electrode parts and narrower than the main electrode part, and

a pair of ends provided between the width of the wiring part in a longitudinal direction and provided where the main electrode part meets the wiring part, wherein the pair of ends are less than 50 μm away from the furthest separated long sides of the scan electrode and the sustain electrode in the discharge cell, and

the main electrode part is disposed so that the pair of ends substantially lines up with furthest separated long sides of the scan electrode and the sustain electrode in the discharge cell.

2. The plasma display device of claim 1 , wherein the data driver is coupled to one end of the data electrode.

3. The plasma display of claim 1 , wherein the scan electrode includes one bus electrode formed on one transparent electrode,

the sustain electrode includes another bus electrode formed on another transparent electrode, and

a lump voltage is applied to the scan electrode.
