Abstract

[Problem to be solved by the Invention] An organic electroluminescence device having a longer drive life is provided. [Means for solving the Problem] An organic electroluminescence device comprises, between a pair of electrodes composed of an anode and a cathode, a light emitting layer, a hole transport layer provided on the anode side of the light emitting layer, and an electron transport layer provided on the cathode side of the light emitting layer. At least one layer among the layers constituting the electron transport layer includes an electron movement suppressing material which suppresses the movement of electrons.

Claims (28)

1. An organic electroluminescence device comprising, between a pair of electrodes composed of a cathode and an anode, a light emitting layer, a hole transport layer provided on the anode side of the light emitting layer, and an electron transport layer provided on the cathode side of the light emitting layer,

wherein at least one layer of layers constituting the electron transport layer includes an electron movement suppressing material which suppresses the movement of electrons, in an amount of 0.05% by weight or more, and of less than 100% by weight,

wherein a layer which includes the electron movement suppressing material is sandwiched between a first electron transport layer and a second electron transport layer which do not include the electron movement suppressing material, and

wherein the light emitting layer includes a luminescent dye and a host material, and

the host material is selected from one from the group consisting of the following formulas 14, 15, 17, and 18:

2. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the layer which includes the electron movement suppressing material includes an electron transporting material, and

the first reduction potential of the electron movement suppressing material (EO−) is lower than the first reduction potential of the electron transporting material (ET−).

3. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the layer which includes the electron movement suppressing material includes an electron transporting material, and

wherein the first reduction potential of the electron movement suppressing material (EO−) is higher than the first reduction potential of the electron transporting material (ET−).

4. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the electron movement suppressing material is a luminescent dye.

5. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein at least one layer of layers constituting the electron transport layer includes an organic aluminum complex compound.

6. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first oxidation potential of the luminescent dye (ED+) is lower than the first oxidation potential of the host material (EH+), and

the first reduction potential of the luminescent dye (ED−) is lower than the first reduction potential of the host material (EH−).

7. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein the luminescent dye is an organic metal complex represented by the following general formula (formula 1):

wherein M represents a metal,

m+n represents the valency of the metal,

the metal is selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, silver, rhenium, osmium, iridium, platinum, and gold,

m is an integer of 0 or greater, while n is an integer of 1 or greater,

L represents a monovalent bidentate ligand, and

Ring a and Ring b represent aromatic hydrocarbon groups which may be substituted.

8. The organic electroluminescence device according to claim 1 ,

wherein a hole injection layer is provided between the anode and the hole transport layer.
