Abstract

A botulinum toxin pharmaceutical formulation free of animal derived proteins, comprising a botulinum toxin and a recombinant albumin, suitable for therapeutic administration to a human patient, and methods for treating patients with various diseases and afflictions with the formulation.

Claims (5)

1 . A method for treating pain or for treating a muscle spasm, the method comprising the step of local administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition consisting of a botulinum toxin type A complex with a molecular weight of about 300 kD to about 500 kD and one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of a carrier, excipient, buffer, stabilizer, preservative and bulking agent.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds is selected from the group consisting of a excipient, stabilizer, preservative and bulking agent.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds is selected from the group consisting of a stabilizer, preservative and bulking agent.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more compounds is selected from the group consisting of a stabilizer and bulking agent.

5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more compounds is selected from the group consisting of a stabilizer.
