13. The method as defined in claim 9 , wherein said step of mixing includes the step of combining said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound in said first reactor tank and adding sufficient amounts of said basic compound to said first reactor tank to cause a pH of a mixture of said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound to increase from about 0.5-4 to about 1.5-5, and then directing at least a portion of said mixture from said first reactor tank to a second reactor tank adding sufficient amounts of said basic compound to said second reactor tank to cause a pH of said mixture from said first reactor tank to increase to about 6-8.

14. The method as defined in claim 13 , including the step of adding a flocculation agent to said coated compound.

15. The method as defined in claim 14 , wherein said coated compound includes about 15-25 weight percent silica and at least about 60 weight percent metal fluoride compound.

19. The method as defined in claim 18 , wherein said metal compound has an average particle size of less than 100 microns.

20. The method as defined in claim 19 , wherein said step of mixing includes the step of combining said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound in a first reactor tank and adding sufficient amounts of a basic compound to said reactor tank to cause a pH of a mixture of said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound to be at least about 5.5, said basic compound including said metal compound.

21. The method as defined in claim 20 , including the step of adding a flocculation agent to said coated compound.

22. The method as defined in claim 21 , wherein said coated compound includes about 15-25 weight percent silica and at least about 60 weight percent metal fluoride compound.

23. The method as defined in claim 19 , wherein said step of mixing includes the step of combining said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound in said first reactor tank and adding sufficient amounts of said basic compound to said first reactor tank to cause a pH of a mixture of said source of an acid solution and said source of metal compound to increase from about 0.5-4 to about 1.5-5, and then directing at least a portion of said mixture from said first reactor tank to a second reactor tank adding sufficient amounts of said basic compound to said second reactor tank to cause a pH of said mixture from said first reactor tank to increase to about 6-8.
