Circulatory monitoring systems and methods
Systems and methods are described for obtaining and acting upon information indicative of circulatory health and related phenomena in human beings or other subjects.
1 . A medical or veterinary system comprising:
a first artificial structure configured to administer a therapeutic material containing at least dioxygen and an artificial component locally to a treatment site via one or more capillaries of a vasculature of a subject.
2 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a fluid-bearing conduit; and
one or more reservoirs configured to dispense the therapeutic material into the fluid-bearing conduit.
3 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a conduit long enough to extend into a position within the vasculature and local to a vital organ of the subject.
4 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a conduit long enough to extend into a venous or venular dispensation position local to a vital organ of the subject.
5 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a conduit containing a portion of the therapeutic material and extending at least into a vein.
6 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a pump configured to control at least one flow into the vasculature of the subject.
7 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for generating a timestamp within a few minutes of one or more events in the first artificial structure.
8 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
the therapeutic material, in which at least some of the dioxygen is bound to one or more of hemoglobin or perfluoroheptane.
9 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
the artificial component, containing one or more of an antineoplastic agent or a toxin.
10 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
the artificial component, containing one or more of a hormone or a nitric oxide source.
11 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
an inlet configured to receive blood from within the vasculature.
12 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
one or more actuators configured to cause an injection of the therapeutic material into the vasculature.
13 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
an in-dwelling catheter.
14 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for detecting one or more components of the therapeutic material in the vasculature.
15 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for recording one or more samples of sensor data.
16 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
circuitry for triggering an actuation of an artificial occlusion structure.
17 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a clamp configured to limit a blood flow in the vasculature.
18 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a dispensation actuator configured to allow a dispensation of the therapeutic material in response to one or more of a force change, a pressure change, or a flow change.
19 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for detecting a pressure during a dispensation of the therapeutic material.
20 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for detecting a flow volume during a dispensation of the therapeutic material.
21 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
circuitry for detecting a position during a dispensation of the therapeutic material.
22 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
a sensor configured to monitor one or more physical phenomena during a dispensation of the therapeutic material.
23 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a disposal operable for receiving a portion of the therapeutic material from the vasculature.
24 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
a second artificial structure configured to receive a flow from the vasculature.
25 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
one or more elements configured to filter a blood flow of the subject.
26 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
another artificial structure configured to position a portion of the first artificial structure in a vicinity of an organ comprising the treatment site.
27 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
an imaging apparatus configured to facilitate positioning a distal portion of the first artificial structure locally to and upstream from the treatment site.
28 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
circuitry for obtaining local respiratory-status-indicative information relating to the treatment site.
29 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:
circuitry for obtaining an image of at least a portion of the treatment site.

52 . The medical or veterinary system of claim 24 in which the first artificial structure comprises:
an inlet configured to receive blood from within the vasculature;
the artificial component, containing one or more of an antineoplastic agent, a toxin, a hormone, or a nitric oxide source;
a conduit long enough to extend into a venous or venular dispensation position local to a vital organ of the subject;
a dispensation actuator configured to allow a dispensation of the therapeutic material in response to one or more of a force change, a pressure change, or a flow change; and
circuitry for detecting a flow volume, a position, and a pressure during the dispensation of the therapeutic material.
