Abstract

Systems and methods are described for obtaining and acting upon information indicative of circulatory health and related phenomena in human beings or other subjects. Some involve implementing or deploying therapeutic administration systems, for example, for obtaining a priori implant information and signaling a decision whether to initiate implant-site-targeting treatment; or obtaining a flow-change-indicative measurement and signaling a decision whether to administer a clot-reducing agent; or obtaining an indication of a lytic material in a vicinity of a body lumen and accelerating a decrease in a local concentration of the lytic material to extract at least a portion of the lytic material in response to the indication; or a capture component configured to accelerate a decrease in a local concentration of a therapeutic structure along a downstream portion of a vasculature and a dispensation component configured to release the therapeutic structure into an upstream portion of the vasculature.

Claims (62)

1. A medical or veterinary system comprising:

circuitry for signaling a decision to initiate a site-targeting treatment;

a first artificial structure configured to administer a therapeutic material containing at least an artificial component via one or more capillaries of a vasculature locally responsive to the decision; and

a second artificial structure configured to extract a portion of the therapeutic material out of the vasculature.

2. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a third artificial structure, configured to support the first artificial structure and the second artificial structure.

3. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a third artificial structure, configured to facilitate positioning at least a distal portion of the first artificial structure in the vasculature.

4. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

another artificial structure, configured to implement one or more balloons to occlude a portion of the vasculature.

5. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

circuitry for detecting a presence of the therapeutic material.

6. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

circuitry for indicating a release of the therapeutic material.

7. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 , further comprising:

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

8. The medical or veterinary system of claim 1 in which the first artificial structure comprises:

the first artificial structure, configured to administer the therapeutic material to a vital organ via the one or more capillaries.

9. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 in which the first artificial structure comprises:

a reservoir configured to contain the artificial component, including one or more of an antiaggregant or a lethal amount of another drug; and

a transvascular dispensation conduit configured to administer the therapeutic material via one or more venules of the vasculature locally to the one or more capillaries of the vasculature.

10. The medical or veterinary system of claim 9 in which the second artificial structure comprises:

an absorbent element operable to absorb the portion of the therapeutic material.

11. The medical or veterinary system of claim 9 in which the second artificial structure comprises:

a transvascular disposal conduit.

12. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 in which the second artificial structure comprises:

a pump to convey the portion of the therapeutic material out of the vasculature.

13. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 in which the second artificial structure comprises:

circuitry for applying one or more thresholds.

14. A medical or veterinary system comprising:

a first artificial structure configured to administer a therapeutic material containing at least an artificial component via one or more capillaries of a vasculature locally;

a second artificial structure configured to extract a portion of the therapeutic material out of the vasculature;

a third artificial structure, configured to facilitate positioning at least a distal portion of the first artificial structure in the vasculature;

another artificial structure, configured to implement one or more balloons to occlude a portion of the vasculature;

circuitry for detecting a presence of the therapeutic material;

circuitry for indicating a release of the therapeutic material; and

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

15. The medical or veterinary system of claim 14 in which the first artificial structure comprises:

a reservoir configured to contain the artificial component, including one or more of an antiaggregant or a lethal amount of another drug;

the therapeutic material, including at least blood and the artificial component; and

a transvascular dispensation conduit configured to administer the therapeutic material via one or more venules of the vasculature locally to the one or more capillaries of the vasculature.

16. The medical or veterinary system of claim 9 in which the second artificial structure comprises:

a filtration device permeable to the portion of the therapeutic material.

17. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 in which the first artificial structure comprises:

a reservoir configured to contain the artificial component, including one or more of an antiaggregant or a lethal amount of another drug; and

the therapeutic material, including at least blood and the artificial component.

18. The medical or veterinary system of claim 17 , further comprising:

circuitry for indicating a release of the therapeutic material; and

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

19. The medical or veterinary system of claim 17 , further comprising:

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

20. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 , further comprising:

another artificial structure, configured to implement a controlled occlusion of a portion of the vasculature;

circuitry for detecting a presence of the therapeutic material; and

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

21. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 , further comprising:

another artificial structure, configured to implement a controlled occlusion of a portion of the vasculature; and

circuitry for triggering the second artificial structure responsive to one or more physical phenomena.

22. The medical or veterinary system of claim 3 , further comprising:

another artificial structure, configured to implement a controlled occlusion of a portion of the vasculature;

circuitry for detecting a presence of the therapeutic material; and

circuitry for indicating a release of the therapeutic material.
