View Patent ↗A method and apparatus for discontinuously transmitting or receiving packets for low-power consumption of a terminal in a cellular system for packet transmission, for example, a method for performing discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, including: receiving parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from the base station; and performing, in a state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters.
1. A method for performing discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
receiving parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from the base station; and
performing, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a discontinuous reception operation initiation message is received from the base station.
2. A method for performing discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
receiving parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from the base station; and
performing, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a predetermined timer is expired.
3. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the parameters are received through a broadcasting channel from the base station.
4. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the parameters includes a plurality of discontinuous reception cycle information.
5. The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein an uplink transmission is attempted through random access when there is no uplink synchronization.
6. A method for discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
receiving parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from the base station; and
performing, in an active state being capable of transmitting of receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle and the discontinuous reception cycle has a fixed value when real time transmission or reception is needed.
7. A method for supporting discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a base station of a wireless communication system, comprising of:
configuring parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation of the terminal;
transmitting the configured parameters to the terminal; and
transmitting discontinuously messages to the terminal, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, according to a discontinuous reception cycle determined using the parameters,
wherein the messages are discontinuously monitored according to the discontinuous reception cycle by the terminal and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a discontinuous reception operation initiation message is received by the terminal.
8. A method for supporting discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a base station of a wireless communication system, comprising of:
configuring parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation of the terminal;
transmitting the configured parameters to the terminal; and
transmitting discontinuously messages to the terminal, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, according to a discontinuous reception cycle determined using the parameters,
wherein the messages are discontinuously monitored according to the discontinuous reception cycle by the terminal and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a predetermined timer is expired.
9. The method as recited in claim 7 , wherein the parameters is transmitted through a broadcasting channel from the base station.
10. The method as recited in claim 7 , wherein the parameters includes a plurality of discontinuous reception cycle information.

12. A method for supporting discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a base station of a wireless communication system, comprising of:
configuring parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation of the terminal;
transmitting the configured parameters to the terminal; and
discontinuously transmitting messages to the terminal, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station,
wherein the messages are discontinuously monitored according to a discontinuous reception cycle by the terminal and the discontinuous reception cycle has a fixed value when real time transmission or reception is needed.
13. A terminal for performing discontinuous reception operation in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
a receiver configured to receive parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from a base station; and
a controller configured to perform, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle, wherein the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a discontinuous reception operation initiation message is received from the base station.
14. A terminal for performing discontinuous reception operation in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
a receiver configured to receive parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from a base station; and
a controller configured to perform, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a predetermined timer is expired.
15. The terminal as recited in claim 13 , wherein the parameters are received through a broadcasting channel from the base station.
16. The terminal as recited in claim 13 , wherein the parameters include a plurality of discontinuous reception cycle information.
17. The terminal as recited in claim 13 , wherein an uplink transmission is attempted through random access when there is no uplink synchronization.
18. The terminal as recited in claim 13 , wherein the discontinuous reception cycle has a fixed value when real time transmission or reception is needed.
19. A base station for supporting discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
a controller configured to configure parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation of the terminal; and
a transmitter configured to transmit the configured parameters to the terminal,
wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit discontinuously messages to the terminal, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, according to a discontinuous reception cycle determined using the parameters,
wherein the messages are discontinuously monitored according to the discontinuous reception cycle by the terminal and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a discontinuous reception operation initiation message is received by the terminal.
20. A base station for supporting discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
a controller configured to configure parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation of the terminal; and
a transmitter configured to transmit the configured parameters to the terminal,
wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit discontinuously messages to the terminal, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, according to a discontinuous reception cycle determined using the parameters,
wherein the messages are discontinuously monitored according to the discontinuous reception cycle by the terminal and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a predetermined timer is expired.
21. The base station as recited in claim 19 , wherein the parameters are transmitted through a broadcasting channel from the base station.
22. The base station as recited in claim 19 , wherein the parameters include a plurality of discontinuous reception cycle information.
23. The base station as recited in claim 19 , wherein an uplink transmission is attempted through random access when there is no uplink synchronization.
24. The base station as recited in claim 19 , wherein the discontinuous reception cycle has a fixed value when real time transmission or reception is needed.
25. A method for performing discontinuous reception operation of a terminal in a wireless communication system, comprising of:
receiving parameters for performing the discontinuous reception operation from the base station; and
performing, in an active state being capable of transmitting or receiving data to or from the base station, the discontinuous reception operation based on the received parameters,
wherein messages from the base station are monitored discontinuously according to a discontinuous reception cycle, and the discontinuous reception operation is initiated when a predetermined timer is expired or when a discontinuous reception operation initiation message is received from the base station.
