Abstract

A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery wherein the non-aqueous electrolyte contains a non-aqueous solvent, a solute dissolved in the non-aqueous solvent, and hydrogenated terphenyl, the solute includes a boron-containing alkali salt and a boron-free alkali salt, the negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material comprising a randomly oriented carbon composite (A), and the carbon composite (A) contains a graphitic carbon substance (B) and a carbon substance (C) that is different from the graphitic carbon substance (B).

Claims (18)

1. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte,

wherein said non-aqueous electrolyte comprises a non-aqueous solvent, a solute dissolved in said non-aqueous solvent, and hydrogenated terphenyl,

said solute comprises a boron-containing alkali salt and a boron-free alkali salt, said non-aqueous electrolyte contains 0.1% by mass to 1% by mass of diphenyl ether,

said non-aqueous electrolyte contains 0.5% by mass to 3.5% by mass of the hydrogenated terphenyl and 0.1% by mass to 0.5% by mass of the boron-containing alkali salt,

said negative electrode includes a negative electrode active material comprising a randomly oriented carbon composite A, and

said carbon composite A contains a graphitic carbon substance B and a carbon substance C that is different from said graphitic carbon substance B, said graphitic carbon substance B being a product obtained by applying a heat treatment to a spherical natural graphite at a temperature of 650 to 3000° C.

2. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said carbon substance C is a product obtained by applying a heat treatment to a non-graphitic organic material.

3. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the content of the graphitic carbon substance B in said carbon composite A is 5% by mass or more and 99.9% by mass or less.

4. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the content of the carbon substance C in said carbon composite A is 0.1% by mass or more.

5. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 2 , wherein the heat treatment of said non-graphitic organic material is performed at a temperature of 650 to 3400° C.

6. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said carbon composite A has a tap density of 1.0 g/cm 3 or more.

7. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said carbon composite A has a specific surface area of 1.2 m 2 /g or more and 6 m 2 /g or less.

8. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said carbon composite A has a volume basis mean particle size of 10 μm or more and 30 μm or less.

9. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said non-aqueous electrolyte contains 0.8% by mass to 2.5% by mass of the hydrogenated terphenyl.

10. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said non-aqueous electrolyte contains 1% by mass to 1.5% by mass of the hydrogenated terphenyl.

11. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said non-aqueous electrolyte contains 0.2% by mass to 0.8% by mass of the diphenyl ether.

12. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said spherical natural graphite has a particle circularity of 0.85 to 1.

13. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said spherical natural graphite has a particle circularity of 0.9 to 0.95.
